Is she paying unsecured debts off?
Does she need budgeting advice?
This is something that needs to be addressed to stop all this happening again. It's Christmas, everybody asks for a budgeting advance to buy presents, I mean replace white goods. Probably why the last one has now been repaid.1 -

Is she paying any debts?
What I am thinking is a SOA on the DebtFree Wannabe board and people could suggest if something like a DRO would wipe her debts out and she would be able to budget better. If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.2 -

but she wants the advance aswell she has got no money for nothing at the minute.0 -
for the various naysayers answering this thread, it is possible for the DWP when answering the phone to proceed with an advance even if the eralier advance isn't shown as paid off on the online portal.
See example from thread below where someone is given an advance even where the first one is *nearly* paid off
UC Budgeting Advance Paid Off, how soon can i get another Advance? - Benefits and HMRC - Consumer Action Group
but while DWP *can* do this it does not mean that DWP *will* do this. Phone and ask.1 -

flower77g said:for the various naysayers answering this thread,I can only see that as quite rude! Tomtom works for DWP and should know the rules around requesting a budgeting advance and has always given good advice to many people here. That thread in the link says on their statement that the loan has been paid off. The person that this thread relates to paid the loan off with debit card so you can't really relate to the two.4

but while DWP *can* do this it does not mean that DWP *will* do this. Phone and ask.As has been advised several times throughout the thread your friend will need to ring UC on Monday morning when they open.I also see that she's working. If she's received at least £2,600 of earnings over the past 6 months then she won't be entitled to the budgeting loan. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/universal-credit/on-universal-credit/budgeting-advance/

If your friend is on Universal Credit she shouldn't be using that money to pay vultures like Lowell.

She should stop paying them and use her money for important things like Rent, Utilities food etc.
OK That won't solve her immediate problem but if she does sort her debts out it hopefully will stop the vicious circle of advances..If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.2
