Page not found for the link you posted.
It appears they've made the same bracket mistake I often did ( / still sometimes do if I forget to check).

Thanks, didn't notice that. Link here. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/universal-credit-advances for budgeting advances, you need to scroll to the bottom of the page.

  • Since the regulars don't like being queried, Turn2us also say: "You will normally receive the advance within five days of requesting it ... if the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) agrees your situation is urgent, payment can be made quicker (even on the same day in some cases)"

It's not about the regulars not liking to be queried!
That link refers to a new claim advance or a change of circumstances advance. A budgeting advance is different.

When you can get a budgeting advance

You can get a budgeting advance if you need the money to help you get or stay in work - like train tickets for a job interview. If you need the money for any other reason, you’ll need to have claimed one of these benefits for 6 months or more:

    • Universal Credit
    • means-tested Jobseeker's Allowance,
    • means-tested Employment and Support Allowance
    • Income Support
    • Pension Credit

You'll also need to have earned less than £2,600 in the 6 months before your application. This figure is £3,600 if you live with a partner.

Link that i previously posted is here. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/universal-credit/on-universal-credit/budgeting-advance/

Indeed but as i advised, it's not guaranteed they will agree to give it.
  • so, back to the original question, if a (second or later) advance is requested it should be within five working days of requesting it, and in some cases on the same day where the situation is urgent.    But we don't know whether the request for advance will be approved or not, and we take a different view of what "within five working days" means when Friday is 23rd December
  • She has no family or no one to rely on to borrow cash so she’s had to repay the last payment off her other advance to get another one.

how long does it take to show as repaid so she can apply for one .

as she has not got nothing for her kids  she’s in dire straights

Was it a new claim advance that she previously had? If so then that doesn't need to be repaid back before you can request the budgeting advance. She just needs to be claiming a qualifying mean tested benefit for at least 6 months.

She’s had advances previously so no. This would be her 4th or 5th one now..

Given it has actually been repaid, I'd suggest phoning DWP and requesting an advance on Monday morning.  Telephone is 0800 328 5644.   If it shown on Monday morning online as being repaid, this can also be done online.
