weekend decluttering of the room of doom didn't happen but OH knows he has 1 LP to play before the work starts. I've said I can put a bit of the stuff in my car to drop off given I have to go shopping anyways but after that it's up to him to take the rest AND take the garden debris to the tip. I want to make sure as much as possible is out of the way this week. Garbage in particular is always an issue over the holidays as the tip won't be open much, when it is everyone on holiday will be there and the bin schedule is a nightmare!!!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Sign me up for 2024, please. I hid away in the TLC carriage and have just come to a bit of a stop. I feel like the train has left without me, although I am keeping up with reading posts, I'm not posting.

Now my washing machine has to be decluttered as it refused to switch on this morning! My husband changed the fuse and we tried to get a repairman out, but they all said they can't do it this close to xmas. We are going out in London tomorrow so I had to order a new washing machine to arrive on Saturday. I had to do my laundry in the bath tub and hung it outside on the line as it will probably drip. I saw my hairdresser on Monday and she said about how lots of things in her home have broken at the same time and I said in 2019 my TV and washing machine broke just before Christmas. I jinxed myself as the washing machine breaks two days later. Grr.
I dropped off the donation bag earlier and didn't buy anything even though quite a few things caught my eye in the shop.

One car load decluttered to the charity shop but they wouldn't take the foot spa so will try to freegle that. OH claimed a number of items that had been heading out of the house.....and has decided that he will handle the ebaying of some things - he's got a couple of very nice suits as well as a load of china thimbles his mom used to collect.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. 1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks to include MMiM - do this before I go to bed
2. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ I have an acronym - I.R.I.S. being Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off
3. Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)
4. Deal with ‘Urgent’ daily mail immediately & the rest at the weekend
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Good afternoon from a dark but dry IoD 🙂 I didn’t get up until after 12:00 & came downstairs to find DSis watching TV. She had managed to keep her 8:00 a.m. appointment at the Doctor’s 🥳 The scarf was finished last night & I even found some pretty tissue paper 😊 I helped DSis wrap the scarf which was used as protection for a china mug. The parcel is now sat on the dining room table waiting for DSis to head off to the P.O. 😉 The only other task I have started is the end of year Awards Post. DH has just come off the phone to his DSis & our annual Boxing Day visit has had to be cancelled due to illness 😞 Her daughter S who hosts each year has come down with gastroenteritis 😔 I don’t think any of our family can wait to see the back of 2023 😔 In other family news from Kent, S’s brother is selling his house & finally moving in with his long term partner - it has been a long time coming 🥳 Now to have a go at catching up with the cheerleading - wish me luck 🍀
Wednesday2000, pleased to hear you are taking your winter hibernation so seriously 🙂 It did you a lot of good as you managed to tick off a great many tasks yesterday 👏 Hope you enjoy your trip to London & that you can leave any lurgies behind before returning home 🤞I have made a note of your 2024 resolutions & will hopefully be joining you in your number 1 resolution 🤞That cottage in Broadstairs sounds beautiful 😍
Excellent decluttering London_1 👏 especially the chicken from uncooked to cooked for meals in January 🙂
Soontobeoap, I thought the EDT might slow down a little over the festive period but our driver seems to be in a bit of a hurry 😂 It rather looks like she will only be letting the cleaning crew on for a couple of days 😉 I have noted your target & there are now 28 people just waiting to jump aboard EDT 2024 🤩
Thank you for the (((Cwtches))) Muddy_Walker 😊 That was a lovely amount raised for your charity 😊 Well done on wrapping the last of the Christmas presents 👏 “Closely watched by 2 dogs 🤣🤣…………….. these 2 are worse than small children!” that did make me laugh 😹
charlies_tribe, the knitted dolls clothes will make a lovely present/s for one or more little girls or boys 😊 Excellent decluttering 👏 & I look forward to seeing you aboard the EDT in 2024 🙂
TC77, hugs gratefully accepted 🙂 Well done on the decluttering 👏 just 7 to go 🙂 I have made a note of your 2024 intentions 🙂
Liverpool_Anne, not quite sure that I would describe yesterday as a ‘slow decluttering day’ for you 🤨 Well done on getting the last of your Christmas presents sorted out 👏 Sounds like a good idea for Muddy_Walker 😉 hopefully she can do something similar with her family 🤞
Moorviews, definitely no need to panic 😉 I am just being a bit slow in setting up next years thread 😔 Thought I might do it this afternoon but am currently unable to find the New Thread button on my iPad 😧 😱 However, I have made a note of your goals of “Space & Order”
Excellent decluttering London_1 👏 Also well done to you & your grandson/s for changing your office back to a spare bedroom 🥳
oceanspirit, that means there is hope for me as I started decluttering in dribs & drabs back in 2014 🥹 As to the phone call on Monday, I am spitting feathers for you 😡 Lots of Cwtches coming your way 🤗
GrannyKate, very impressive - 18 minutes from waking to getting out the door 🤩 Hope you will find some time today for a few short ‘nanna naps’ 🤞Excellent decluttering 👏
Wednesday2000, I am looking forward to seeing the cats starting their exercise regime 😂 What a lovely selection of items for donation 😍
Foofoopuppy, just had a quick google of Michigan - looks like there is lots to do & plenty to see. Hope you have a lovely time at the wedding & that the first meeting goes well 😊 Congratulations on the ‘promotion’ from trainee to fully qualified 🥳 💐
Brie, sending lots of positive vibes + and a quick prod of OH that he does as you ask & with a smile on his face 🤞😉 Shame about the Tip being closed but I suppose the staff deserve a holiday as well 😉😉
Nice to see you foxandflowers 👋 I must admit that it can be so easy to spend too much time in the TLC Carriage that it is a wonder that I ever do any decluttering 😉 I have signed you up for the 2024 EDT & will have another quiet word with the driver to slow down a bit 🙏
Wednesday2000, sorry to hear that the washing machine has to be decluttered 😔 Typical though that it should be at such an awkward time of year 😡 Well done on resisting temptation in the CS 👏
Excellent decluttering Brie 👏 Hopefully OH will hurry up with the eBaying & you can ‘clutter’ a decent amount of cash 🤞
All caught up & now just hoping someone can offer instructions on where to find the New Thread button on my iPad 🤞

RedRuby (on the Daily Thread) has enlightened me as to how to set up a New Thread 😮💨 It is the big red button with the white cross (bottom right) 😊 To me something in red signals danger so I didn’t even think to try it out 😔 The good news is that there will now definitely be a 2024 Decluttering Thread 😊 At one point I was worried that the EDT would be derailed 😱

The foot spa that the charity shops didn't want was put on Freegle at about 4 pm today. I've got 2 people who want it, one of whom has said they could collect this evening. Can I hide in the TLC carriage well they clean it? I just want to crawl in a hole and stay there. Maybe become a hermit for awhile.19

New (to him!) clothes arrived for Mr Flamingo's new job. He's never had a 'smart, own clothes' job before, so I am suddenly going to be doing much more ironing and so forth!
+1 ironing a big stack of smart trousers
+1 moving my clothes out of the wardrobe and into the drawers
+1 hanging all his new things
This meant moving sentimentals and papers to another home, so a purge was needed, and sentimentals are my worst clutter hoarding
+50, old school notebooks and misc paper
+1 t-shirt tied to my old business that I no longer feel attachment to
+1 Xmas dress that doesn't fit
+1 bra that doesn't fit
+1 microphone stand
+2 various cardboard boxes from clothes drawer
+3 books & calculator for CS
So adding 62 for today. Will need to revisit this problem area in new year, but some is stuffed toys that belong to my late Gran, and I have ended up with them all and I find it hard to let them go even though I haven't looked at them in at least a decade.

My top tip flamingo is to get shirts on hangers buttoned up as soon as they are out the washing machine. Straighten it out with your hands whilst wet. Saves a lot of wrinkles starting. Never bundle them into an 'ironing basket' as again its just putting wrinkles in, keep them on hanger.
