Morning all. I am going to fall short of my 2023 in 2023 but will be in for next year and try harder. Finally seem to have sorted out banking and phone but there are bound to be things come up which I haven't done. Children here after school until Friday then back Christmas Day night. I need to look seriously about beds and bedding as I may have more people than beds on 26th.
1803-1808 Six bags of wood to tip. This needs to all go this week.
1809 Pool vacuum to tip
1810 Cans dropped off for recycling
1811 Went to get basketball set as joint present for children when they are here. 25% off offer had finished on 6 December but lower price still on shelf. Asked nicely and manager agreed we could have it at lower price.
I need to go several places this morning so may be more to report later. I'd better put some clothes on.2025 Decluttering Campaign 697/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

2. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ I have an acronym - I.R.I.S. being Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off
3. Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)
4. Deal with ‘Urgent’ daily mail immediately & the rest at the weekend
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
I have managed one task off my To Do list - phoned bank & paid CC bill before I forgot 😉 Last weeks magazine competition entry form is filled in. Some tidying of paperwork & shredding - now have half a bin bag for worm bedding + I have divided up my hand knitted items to be shared between 2 CS - my favourite is getting 9 items & the other CS will get 6 scarves. The feather & fan stitch scarf I am knitting at the moment is destined to be a gift for DSis’s friend - so I need to get a move on 😥 The afternoon has been spent knitting & re-watching a series called Four Lives. DH went out to pick up his meds. I carried on knitting & have started watching Waking The Dead which completely passed me by when it was first on 😉 DH made a portion of the venison cooking liquid into gravy so we had venison in gravy with boiled potatoes & peas. I cooked some chicken for DSis. As I was nodding off & it took me over an hour to watch he last 20 minutes of a New Tricks episode I went to bed before 02:00 WITHOUT doing the washing up 😔 I woke up at 07:15, came downstairs to find DSis just starting it so I dupa. Thanks DSis 👏 She has now gone back to bed & I have stayed up to have a cuppa & do a bit of cheerleading 😉 By the way, the rain is putting in an appearance - it is pouring 🌧️ so the visit to the CS might be delayed 😔
2512 - 2513 Kitchen recycling, drinks cans - recycled

Liverpool_Anne, excellent work tidying/decluttering the lr on top of sorting out your yarn stash 👏 I do hope that OH realises that Santa does keep an eye out right up until Christmas Eve as to whether people should be on the Naughty or Nice list 🤣 At this rate OH won’t have any presents under the Christmas tree 🙃 Hope yesterday went well & that OH pitched in 🤞
dND, sorry to hear that there has been no movement on the house purchase 😔 You are officially the 2nd member of the 2024 Declutterati 😊

I have my 2nd cuppa & have settled back down to the cheerleading 😉 However, first I will say hello 👋 to those of you who are joining the 2024 Declutterati :- Brie (not sure I can manage any troops but definitely lots of encouragement 😉); ~FlowerPot (thank you for the compliment & the flowers 💐 Now, now ‘wagging finger emoji’ - no such thing as failure. Please just take a good look around - you have done a lot of work in 2023 👏 after all I have awarded you 2 gold stars & several medals 😉); Wednesday2000; flamingo747 (you have definitely decluttered quite a bit during 2023 as you have a gold star & some medals 😊); Fizz2015 (perhaps 3 months of No Buy followed by seven months of ‘thoughtful & considered buying 🤔); Muddy_Walker (target noted); Deni_debt-free_dreamer (a sideboard out in January will be a great start to your 2024 decluttering campaign 👏); Pennypincin, MadamMim2013 & Floss (you are all in 👏); TC77 (almost there for 2023 😊); short_bird (you are no.15); weenancy (despite your roommates you have managed an enormous amount of decluttering in 2023 - large items (like the fish tank 👏) all gone 🥳); leftatthtrafficlights (just gathering your energy for 2024’s decluttering campaign 🙂); GrannyKate (look at it this way - if you hadn’t boarded the 2023 EDT would you have decluttered over 1800 items 🧐 )
Will take a short break now before continuing 🙂 Good news the rain has stopped 🙂

Of course I’m in for 2024! If I don’t keep up with it, my parents/DS/DD/DH will overrun the house in no time.
I’ve started to write a list of all the things I need to do and ticked off 18 things yesterday, which was about half the list. Tons more also tidied and it is better than I can remember for a very long time. So close to being done now. I finished the sewing up of my jeans and I even put all the dry clothes away promptly. Nothing will be done today as it’s my work Xmas lunch, which takes out the day although I threw a load of washing on first thing this morning before I left.
Doctors couldn’t see anything wrong with DD’s ear, but she has antibiotics and a follow up to check if she’s ok. She was bouncing off the walls yesterday, so no other symptoms!
Lots more decluttering to report:Digital:
115 - photos deleted
2 - documents deleted
25 - notes deleted
12 - emails deleted
6 - text message conversations deleted
Physical:
1 - packaging reused
2 - DD tat recycled
3 - batteries used up
Lazily not doing running totals in the above, but that all brings me up to 39,196.

Please count me in for 2024 Mrs SD. I’ve done well this year and despite OH moving in and bringing things in with him, the place isn’t actually too bad.
There will be some big frogs to deal with, a few more bits of paper to go plus a few hangovers from the bedbug disaster last year and then it will be maintenance mode for me.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅16 -
Greetings to all. Been lurking here for a while and found great encouragement in all the comments. What a wonderfully supportive community. Is there room for a lurker on the 2024 campaign Mrs SD? Would like to declutter chaos to calm in 2024.18

I would like to join you in 2024 please. I am in maintenance now but will need to keep an eye on what comes in. Plus I would miss all your company and chat.
Next year I will count ins and outs to keep myself in check. I will also try to only buy new to me. I may have to have a few exceptions as I would like a blind in the kitchen and have been looking for second hand for months and can't find the right size. Also I may need some new bras in a few months. Anything else I acquire will be a want not a need. I/we have more clothes and shoes than we could ever wear out and need nothing for the house. Next year I will turn my attention to the garden. I hope to make a garden on the disused lane at the side of the house without spending a fortune. The land is officially unowned,I could claim it, but I don't want the legal responsibility for a massive tumbledown drystone wall. I will be going for a managed wild garden style. I am quite excited, there is a small waterfall and stream and a lot of potential.
I will also apply a no clutter principle to any gifts I give. Unless it's asked for I will just give money. The family do secret Santa now with a wish list, saving a lot of time and expense. I have asked Santa for an apple tree, very rock and roll.
