Please could I join again in 2024?I have mostly kept up with reading the thread this year, but have not managed to post much. My target was to get rid of 2023 items this year, but I have discovered that this was unrealistic, and I now have just 4 more items to declutter to achieve an average of 3 items per day in 2023, so 1095 in total. I am pleased with this, but we still have a lot of stuff that we *could* get rid of, but are not sure that we want to.
Anyway, I would like to aim for a target of 1098 items in 2024, that’s 3 per day again.
Thank you Mrs SD, and everyone, for all your motivating posts!16 -
46/52 - a completely done pyjama top out in the bin.
47/52 - DH cleared a room of rubbish to allow us to store items from other rooms to then allow us to have guests stay with us! I dream of the day we can just have people stay without having to stress about it. I'm also trying not to think about what might have been thrown out by DH in error.
48/52 - same job as above but this time for all the items recycled.16 -
1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks to include MMiM - do this before I go to bed
2. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ I have an acronym - I.R.I.S. being Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off
3. Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)
4. Deal with ‘Urgent’ daily mail immediately & the rest at the weekend
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Back again but so much for a short break 😉 The rain restarted & it has been raining steadily for at least an hour 😔 DSis has been up & about but returning to her room after each foray downstairs 🙂 DH got up just after 13:00 & I have been watching more episodes of Waking The Dead whilst trying to finish knitting the scarf for DSis’s friend 🙂 However, now time to have another burst of cheerleading:-
London_1, fingers crossed that DGS Mike has your kindle 🤞then at least you will know where it is & can stop turning the house upside down looking for it 😅 Shame about the computer desk not being suitable for DGS Jack 😔 although the up side is that it will be decluttered 🙂 Does your Tip have an area for other people to pick up still usable items? You had a really busy day yesterday & I see you are determined to declutter as much as possible before your move 👏😊 Good luck to both you & DGS Jack on Friday when you clear the ‘Glory Hole’ & the other large cupboard 🍀 Hope the weather has been kind today for your Tuesday morning coffee with your friends 🤞
Wednesday2000, all signed up for 2024 🙂 Great news that the house is all back together again after the “water leak fun” 😊 It must have seemed like it would never be done 😔 Sorry to hear that your husband had another reaction to his medication 😔 but pleased to hear that it was not as severe as last time 🙂 Hopefully the doctors can get his meds sorted out soon 🤞It seems that your attention to decluttering + having workmen in every week in 2023 has had a knock on effect of honing your organisational skills 😉 Hope you enjoy your meal & cinema trip 😊 Like you, I would be far too nervous to bid on an auction property 😱 but watching Homes Under The Hammer seems like a great way to learn about the areas you are interested in 👏
Onto another page so will post & come back after lunch - the last of the hm soup 🤤

Not strictly decluttering, but have replaced all the cheap shop plastic hangers with sturdy wooden ones for clothes. This now looks much nicer, and I hopefully won't have to worry about them breaking now.
We also officially have a bench and a chair for the garden. Previously I've sat on the floor! 🫣
But I would also like to join next year, continuing with maintenance and the plan for next year is to minimise stuff coming in. I've bought various bits this year, generally needed, but as others have mentioned there shouldn't be much else that is needed this year for me.
We are also going to America in October, so will be trying to put spare money aside, plus build up our savings/emergency fund a bit more, so everything not bought is money that can be saved.
Also hoping to declutter some more weight, which will lead to some clothing decluttering as well.
Best of luck to everyone meeting their targets 😊16 -
I slept in until 11.48 today. I had almost 8 and a half hours sleep. I am taking my winter hibernation very seriously! I had a lovely bath with magnesium salts when I got up.
I have booked the cinema and restaurant in London for this week. I then booked my cat in for a checkup and booked my dog in for her general checkup and vaccs for the start of January and put all her collar, lead, vaccs card and food by the front door to go to the kennel this week.
All the rubbish and recycling is going out today. I have only one thing to go into a donation bag for my next trip to a charity shop, a set of unused hair stuff I don't want. I am going to look around again as I could drop the bag off before I go into London.
I was going to book myself a massage as a treat, but I think I feel too tired to go to it! I think it is because I was ill for three weeks after Brighton/Broadstairs last month and then had a cold after going out in London this month. I just need a rest. It is pouring down today and I can't even be bothered to go out for a walk. It is meant to stop at 6 so it will be dark and I don't fancy going for a walk then. At least I have my treadmill arriving tomorrow (as a Christmas present to myself) so I can at least get some exercise when the weather is this bad.
I might do some steps on my trampoline as a woman on the other forum I'm on says she does that when it is raining. I'm going to see what my Fitbit says when I do it, lol. I am going to get an old pair of socks to play fetch indoors with my dog as I can't play outside in this horrible weather.
I don't think I said my 2024 resolutions on here.
1. Lose weight, at least a stone.
2. Buy (which I have already done) and use my new treadmill.
3. Listen to new music. I do have The Killers new album to listen to and I have downloaded three albums by Lorde. I only heard of her on Chris Moyles the other day.2025 GOALS

Mrs_Salad_Dodger - There was a cottage in Broadstairs that was completely renovated and it looked gorgeous. They were saying as a holiday let they can charge £200 a night for it. I used to always watch HUTH, but I stopped for some reason. It is actually very entertaining.

Hi everyone ,don't fret Floss the dried out Oramorph and a couple of other bits went to Boots this morning but the rest of the stuff was mainly old plaster/bandage stuff from mastectomy days
I have to have a specific sort of plaster as I have a skin that cannot take ordinary plasters, i have an allergy to elastoplast and anything with a rubber base and they have given me lots of it when I had my mastectomy as I had the wound collapse, and ended up having it dressed daily with this what looking like silver foil on a roll which had to have yards of in plugging up this large hole in my chest until it eventually healed up but I was left with packets and packets of this stuff sealed up that the chemist won't take, plus large wound dressings as well.
Before it goes to the tip, I took the medicine stuff out which had virtually dried out anyway after 15 years stuff for Boots and dropped it off this morning I certainly don't want to put anything in landfill that would do any lasting damage.
Also dropped off a big bag of books and CDs at the CS this morning as well, plus one of my library books.I also changed my mobile phone company and got a better deal with twice the GB and over £2.00 less a month.
My kitchen smells gorgeous as I got 5 chicken thighs out and made a casserole first thing in my Slow cooker with some cut up peppers and tinned tomatoes and tomato puree and some lazy garlic and some herbs and chilli sauce it will be done by tea time and some I'll eat for dinner tonight, and the rest I'll get portioned up and frozen so will be some ready meals in there for January to join the portions of chicken tikka in there from last week when I cooked some
I'm trying to get all the chicken in the freezer cooked and portioned up for the cold January months when I don't feel like straying too far from the nice warm sitting room to cookso in a way decluttering the chicken into a different state
The tinned stuff is coming along nicely and slowly reducing the stock pile.
Its all work in progress

I have just watched the last of the Countdown quarter finals - very close result 100-97 😮 The scarf is coming along nicely - should be finished tonight 🤞Another attempt to catch up :-
Muddy_Walker, 2024 target duly noted 🙂 Sounds like you had a brilliant time on Friday 😊 just a shame that Google maps decided on an early Christmas break 😔 As to Saturday’s …….. what shall I call it …… fiasco, less said the better 😔 At times like that I would say “Yes” to decluttering family 😉
Deni_debt-free_dreamer, you are very welcome 🙂
Excellent decluttering short_bird 👏 & as you are over 4,500 a Gold Star ⭐️ is on its way 🙂
Liverpool_Anne, wow you & OH were very busy yesterday 🤩 Excellent tidying & decluttering in TWO locations 👏 No wonder you were tired 🥱
Great decluttering GrannyKate 👏 More people than beds 🤔 Quite a bit of doubling up then which should be cosy especially if the weather turns cold 😉
QueenJess, have you considered decluttering the family 🤣 & yes I really am Joking 🙃 Although, joking aside, I am hoping that your parents have almost finished decluttering stuff from their house to your house 🙏🙏 Excellent work completing 50% of your To Do list & excellent decluttering 👏 That 40,000 target you set yourself is looking eminently do-able 🤩 Very pleased to hear that DD is OK 😮💨
oceanspirit, you must be so excited - so very close to Maintenance Mode Decluttering 🤩 Good luck disposing of the Big Frogs 🍀
Welcome C_Charlie 👋 As QueenJess says, there is always room on the EDT for new members of the Declutterati Family 😊 I really love your stated aim of decluttering “chaos to calm in 2024” 😊 I look forward to following you & encouraging you on your journey.
vulpix, I, for one, am looking forward to seeing you next year especially with Tales of Maintenance Mode Decluttering 😊 Something for me to aspire to 🙂 I haven’t done particularly well this year as I never did set myself an overall S.M.A.R.T. Plan re decluttering & renovations 😔 I have promised myself to do better in 2024. I am also really looking forward to following your gardening journey re the disused lane 😊
Broke off to write a shopping list for DH - meat & alcohol only 😅 He left the house at 18:20 & will be picking up something (unhealthy) to eat for dinner 😅
I have nearly caught up but my concentration is flagging so will be back later.

(((((Cwtches Mrs SD))))) for your kind words. People are always shocked when I vent about my family - I always respond with “you haven’t walked in my shoes so keep your mouth shut!!!”
today I have:
decluttered paid work and managed to get confused so will ponder and sleep on it.Decluttered a Covid jab really hoping no side effects 😊
paid charity money in -£168 in the end.Wrapped the rest of the Christmas presents!!!!!!!!!!! Closely watched by 2 dogs 🤣🤣 this year I have done them a small cardboard box each that has a new toy and treats. Using the additional brown paper from that well known online store, I scrunched it all up along with a couple of tiny cardboard boxes and empty loo roll with treats hidden in them. The dogs will have to work to get the treats but they adore stuff like that and all the brown paper and cardboard will get shredded. 😊
Both boxes are now on top of my bookcase…….these 2 are worse than small children!⭐️⭐️⭐️🥇🥇🥇 2024 decluttering
