I didn't particularly like the most recent episode of Sort Your Life Out which is a shame.
I did throw away a handbag as the lining ripped so I cut some of it out and continued to use it, but it ripped again.
I am making a list for the bulky waste again as our wardrobe door broke off and the hinges my husband bought didn't fit so we had to buy a whole new door from Ikea. There are still things in the garden boxes that the previous people left here that can go.
I decluttered £600 at the vet for my dog's dental work! I did at least get my flu jab the same day. I didn't get a reaction this time as I usually feel ill and then tired for days after, but I felt fine, just a sore arm. I'm not sure what was different this year.13 -
FlowerPot, my bedroom has one wall papered in a dark green floral print & the other 3 walls painted pale grey (but am considering redoing them in pale pink next year). The other bedroom is pale blue (destined to become a pale coral next year) with a deep blue paper on one wall.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Morning all, I've just skimmed the first couple of posts after my last one. Will read later but just wanted to say thank you for the gold star MrsSD and Creoso Muddy_Walker We are loving it here in Wales, the village is so quiet even today (Saturday) it's actully bliss compared to what we were used to..lol
The cats love the new house, I think they think it's there own personal playground..lol And the dog is much more settled here, definitely not barking like he did at the old house when he heard or saw a noise. Plus he's not been getting up in the middle of the night like previously 👍
I got up this morning, decluttered a bit of the ironing - well some of what I could find..lol Afterwards I decluttered two more boxes and found homes for these bits. Only another 200 more boxes to go...lol
Have a lovely day all 💗Mortgage Free as of 20.9.17Declutter challenge 2023, 2024 🏅 🏅⭐️⭐️

Today I've come across an article in The Times about recycling, one of the mentions is about old unused / used cosmetics and toiletries. This site - https://www.toiletriesamnesty.org/directory/ - enables a search for your local (or nearest) organisation which accepts these. It's possible to select 'part used' option. I've found one which isn't so local to me but somewhere near to where I go at least once a month. Happy day!

Gers - we put a crate of toiletries outside at my SA last week for people to take. We had lots of travel size toiletries plus bars of soap and needed to make space - limited for storage.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

We had lots of travel size toiletries plus bars of soap and needed to make space - limited for storage. When I was working and staying in hotels around the country I used to save all the little toiletries and give them to a homeless project in Newcastle. Eventually I had many colleagues gathering them for me too. The project would put on pampering sessions for the women and distribute other stuff to all their users. The beauty of the organisation I've linked to is that some take opened items.14

I always end up being the recipient of part used toiletries, my family and even their acquaintances pass them on for me. I did get 3 barely used fancy hand creams and two bottles of s-mol fab cond yesterday given to me. I will eventually use them up, and saves me a few pence as well as being good for the planet rather than them being binned
My favourite ever bedroom colour was a lavender colour, so restful! But we rent, and now we have white with one red feature wall, not my ideal really
Today's declutter will be 3 old white t-shirts of DS' to my sister as cleaning rags, and a roll of freezer bags for her too that DH got free from work. He works for the blue supermarket, and they're very good for giving staff stuff that would be for the bin. Last night he came home with 4 bags of cookies, sometimes it's salmon!

Siebrie said:@QueenJess "I should say that to be fair, he does more than his fair share of dropping off/picking up of the kids for school/nursery to give me more time." I would say that it's just because he is their father and he is happy to care for them.Maybe a weekly 'family meeting' will help? Where you discuss the schedule, drop offs/pick ups, meals, any household tasks for the next week? Have a weekly cleaning session with everyone? Even the little ones can help. I tell my husband the day before of any of those tasks, and then send a whattsapp in the morning to remind him; I also have a weekly calendar in the kitchen where I note down everything. If it's not on there, it's not happening; if someone plans without checking, whatever is already on the calendar takes precedent.
Anyway, I get your point and will have a think about it and how to make it work for us. Thanks for your input, it is appreciated. Sometimes it’s hard to step back from your own life. It sounds bad, but currently I am so busy at work and DH was the last few weeks, that we haven’t spent any time together at all. Not even enough to pass the time of day. Once my work calms down in a few weeks I’ll have time to reassess.
No tidying and no real decluttering going on here as I’m too busy at work. However, I am continuing to use things up and am trying hard to concentrate on the kitchen to use up stuff I have too much of or know I won’t buy again. It’s very slow progress this way though. Hoping to sort the freezers by the end of the year, but I’ll see!
Just food and paper to report right now (I wrote a lot of notes at work):32,209-32,214 - paper, reused then recycled

Well DS finally got to the end of the Lego sort and so I can count them in my numbers. I lost count when sifting through them to make sure DS hadn't got rid of anything critical and rounded down to 1,000, but I'm sure there were more pieces than that. Also, to make myself feel like I was still making progress, I tried to find something to get rid of in the kitchen and have a few bits to add to the list. Still lots to go before the kitchen feels completely under control, but it'll be a slow burner whilst we eat things up.32,209-32,211 - cloths (binned)
