Tidied my "office/art studio" a bit yesterday. I've devised a plan to get rid of a small side table that has lurked in her since last September. If I clear out more paperwork I'll have no need to stack things on it. Some craft stuff on my art desk has been tucked away (prob won't resurface for a couple of years knowing me....). I've realised one of the reasons I don't do as much artwork as I intend to is that the desk is slightly too short for me so I mash my fat thighs under it. Solution is to either take an inch off the chair legs (difficult to get even) or find something to add an inch or so to the table legs (OH suggested left over bathroom tiles which I have politely declined). I'll be going out to tidy the carport a bit more so will look there and in the garage of doom (soooo stacked up with stuff!!) as surely there must be some small blocks of wood, chair leg coasters, something.....
AND a bit of a shock this morning when I went into the kitchen to make my coffee.....looked out to our lovely garden and noticed the bbq was a bit askew. Turns out that someone must have tried to open the garden gate which is directly behind the bbq (gate doesn't open easily so almost never gets use). The gate gives access to an alley so easy to think that someone considered it a quiet place to see what might be available. But the gate opens in hence the honking big bbq blocking it. One bit of wood on the gate was almost pulled off so might need to talk to the neighbour who owns the fence about repairing that unless OH can successfully hammer it back into place. I don't want to get rid of the gate entirely but might consider a motion sensitve light which likely will only give us fun views of the foxes frolicking.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Not much decluttering today, but managed to sort out some tidying frogs by finally putting the massive pile of stuff into the attic from DH's room at the same time as getting out the kids suitcases for our holiday later next week. Whilst I was up there I found 3 jumpers, a cardboard box and a box insert we don't need, so these were removed.I also removed a box of toys for DD we will slowly get out and see if she still wants to play with them - if not, they will be gone. There are quite a few books up there, but a bit of a mix and I know DD won't want them all. They will stay up there for a while until the end of the year or next year when she'll be old enough for them and I can very slowly start working through them and getting rid of ones she doesn't want. I did refind a couple of favourites that I added to the gift drawer though - they can form part of her xmas present.Yesterday I rearranged and tamed the kids craft stuff and DS binned a whole heap of pictures he didn't want anymore. I also put the storage boxes on Buy Nothing that DH had in the garage and most have been picked up already. So lots of progress, but more concentrating on tidying than decluttering. I think decluttering will start to be for the areas that most annoy me the most as generally it means there is stuff that needs to go from them. That is if I ever get to the end of the photo sort out!Digital:

Oh @Brie that must’ve been a bit of a nasty surprise! Thank heavens for the large BBQ! We have a large padlock on the inside of our back gate as that opens inwards too.We have a shared alley that runs between mine and one set of neighbour’s house. It’s covered as the houses interlock on the first floor over the alley.Despite that we’ve had a few people try their luck over the years. Fortunately a big black, very nosey, dog with flashing white teeth used to discourage ‘unexpected callers’.✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

A couple of frogs dealt with today and OH has done a couple of cleaning jobs for me. Also set up my old mini hifi as I have missed playing my CDs. It makes the unit it's sitting on look far more cluttered than the piles of magazines and dvds that were on there before. May have to rethink it.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅15

Hi all, so much going on. Hope Mr SD's knee is on the mend. I've been reading along as best I can, including about all where all the snacks are kept
Had my cousin helping me abit. Went through linen and duvets, dropped off bag of lampshades to the CS and suitcase with DVD player, bedding etc. Have kept so much packaging thinking I would sell stuff, at least have all the packaging together so I know what I have, but not sold anything. Tidied other areas and can't remember if I counted the DVDs from last week I think I did so now going for 1035 as new total.18 -
I had a little time of meditation on the TLC carriage and came to realise that I am decluttering stuff from 3 properties, mine it is the slowest. I just need to remember that. I am always on the lookout for something to be gone.
I have managed to get mum even in her dementia state to use a gift of perfume that unopened. She uses that now - just a little too much sometimesIt did take about a month for her to decided to declutter the old perfume that had gone off but she made that decision on her own.
UU OOD stock pot 2018 (produce from parents house)
Did some baking UU left over castor and icing sugar, so the cupboard shelf is a little more tidier.
Nothing into the house so a win, win.
Re gifted back a manuscript book for us to use with mother when we move anything round and remove from the freezer as she is now hiding and moving stuff around
It's all about keeping stuff on the move, it will all eventually be decluttered even if naturally. Head space sorted.
Have a good week

Morning all xx
@Mrs_Salad_Dodger my new glasses cost £564!!!! Frames were £169 - but they were the only ones that I liked, and as I wear my glasses all day, every day that was important to me. I'm very short sighted plus have astigmatism in both eyes, add varifocal to the mix and wallop. Loadsamoney 😱 Heyho. It's better than going through life in a blur!
Treated myself to some new sandals too. And BINNED the old pair so that I can't keep on wearing them. Down at heel, falling apart, smelly , but comfortable....nope. BIN.
I've taken two cs bags from the stash and labelled them: textile recycling and cs donations. And I have 5 books waiting to donate....need a bag to put them in.
Rubbish and recycling leaves the building daily.

Spent some time yesterday sorting out more stuff in the carport. In part it's because the gardeners are expected tomorrow and they've got one of those leaf blowers so could easily deal with the accumulation (of leaves!) in the carport quicker and more thoroughly than I could with a broom. So decided to start with a small stack of plaster boxes with more stuff on top.
Big box of photos and receipts from in laws holidays in Germany 20 years back (why?) plus a journal MiL wrote about a trip with us and a letter from OH to MiL. I've tucked the journal and letter aside with some of the photos (us from 30+ years back, almost didn't recognise either!) but the rest got binned.
Next a huge plastic storage box with a creme brulee set (unused, set aside in the room of doom for now until I see if I can be asked), hanging shoe holder will go to the chazzers.
2 more storage boxes - the under the bed sort. One is full of nicely pressed and folder shirts OH hasn't worn in maybe 15 years, another full of bed linen. I've wiped the boxes down and will take the lot to the chazzer as is rather than unpack them. They can have the boxes as well as I don't want to store things under any beds anymore - it obviously just gets left!!!
That leaves 2 wheelchairs and a portable ramp, a lot of very old (5+ years) paint tins, a decaying shelf unit and the photo montage from FiL's memorial service 6 years back. And assorted slowly dissolving cardboard boxes that I may not even open before binning.
But it also means that I can likely get my toy car actually in to the car port rather than having it's nose sticking out.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Not much leaving the house at the moment. Brought a duvet/pillowslips and a fitted sheet home from SA to make two bags for playgroup's balls. Cut the duvet up and will sew the bags this afternoon as the playgroup leader will be at SA tomorrow morning doing breakfasts for the homeless - I will take them round to her. I will be using my tape for drawstrings so can count that as an out. The leftover duvet bits/pillowcases and sheet are in a bag for the charity shop's rag collection.
Been into town to collect my new glasses this morning.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
