Quick check in as I have been awol for a few days. I have skim read 60 posts to catch up. Late start today but my garden visits and barbecue for this afternoon were cancelled so I have lots of plans for sorting and tidying. Oldest DGS was 18 yesterday - time flies and my sister in US is to be a great grandma next year - the first of the next generation of the family. Lunch out tomorrow then taking DGCs away for a week on Friday. I hope to have more to report later today.

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks to include MMiM - do this before I go to bed
2. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ I have an acronym - I.R.I.S. being Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off
3. Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)
4. Deal with ‘Urgent’ daily mail immediately & the rest at the weekend
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Good afternoon everyone 😔 Only woke up at 12:15, I think subconsciously I am falling asleep on the the sofa & going to bed so late because I am frightened of accidentally kicking DH’s bad leg 😔 Of course, that is not helping with sorting out my sleep patterns 🙄 After several calls from the hospital DH now has an hospital appointment for an ‘assessment’ of his leg to decide if a scan is needed. Friday morning + a blood test Friday evening. DH’s leg is getting better daily & the redness is almost all gone 😊 He has used up his first box of anticoagulants - only 5 more boxes to go & that will be one months worth 😔
I think I missed the nice weather by getting up so late as it is now very dark outside & looks like rain is coming. I looked at the weather forecast at 12:30 - no rain forecast, looked again 15 minutes later & there is a 70% chance of rain at 13:00 🤨
1683 - 1684 Cardboard box, paper packaging - recycled
Timer on & back to cheerleading 🙂
Brie, well done on starting the ‘office/art studio’ tidying on Saturday & formulating plans to dispose of furniture 👏 Fingers crossed that Sunday’s search for something to raise the height of your desk was successful & that you can now craft in comfort 🤞 How shocking Brie - but yippee for the heavy barbecue blocking access 🥳 Enjoy the ‘frolicking foxes’ IF you do get a motion activated light sensor 😉
QueenJess, sounds like you had a busy weekend what with loft visits, tidying & decluttering 👏Hopefully the box of DD’s toys will result in a large uplift to your decluttering numbers 🤞 I see you are making a great deal of headway towards 32,000 items out 🤩 Just wondering on what comes after the trophy 🏆 as your next milestone in 2023 Project Declutter 🤔 I’m thinking DH should treat you to a spa day 😉
florianatwobob, perhaps there is a recording of a barking/snarling dog available as a motion sensitive deterrent 🤔😉
Great work dealing with frogs oceanspirit 👏 & well done to OH for doing some cleaning 👏 Is there space in the unit to put the mini hifi away when not in use? If not perhaps Santa will bring you something more aesthetically pleasing at the end of the year 😉
TC77, nice to have help from your cousin & sounds like a successful decluttering session 👏 Your number 1035/2023 has earned you a Gold Star ⭐️ - excellent work 👏
2Scratters, decluttering 3 properties, sounds exhausting 😓 Lovely to hear that your Mum can make decisions on her own 😊 Well done on UU baking products 👏- a win win - tidier shelves& something tasty to eat 😋 Also very pleased to hear that your meditation has resulted in calmer headspace 😊
roundtuit, ouch 😣 that is a big hit to your purse/wallet 😣 The only trouble I have with new glasses is that I get to see how much decluttering & cleaning I still have to do 🤣 Very well done on ‘releasing’ your old (& possibly dangerous 😬) sandals 👏 “you know it makes sense” 😉 Excellent decluttering 👏
Brie, excellent decluttering in the carport 👏 I now have visions of your ‘toy car’ as being a pedal one & you racing around the garden 😂 sorry about that, but it did amuse me for a few minutes 😉 One medal 🏅 coming your way 😊 As to the under bed storage boxes, what a great idea to donate without opening 👏 I am so impressed with that idea & your bravery that I am awarding you a Gold Star ⭐️ to go with your medal 👏
Florenceem, what an extremely lovely person you are 😊😇 Very impressed that you are not keeping the off cuts from your bag making 👏
Excellent decluttering of physical items, frogs & tasks TC77 👏 I would go further than Floss & start charging DD2 rent 🤣 although I think I might only be half joking 🤨
Floss, I would definitely not be as magnanimous as you 😉 What lovely sons you have 😊
TC77, sorry to hear that DD2 is feeling low 😔 Maybe a happy compromise would be for her to help you with the decluttering & identify a few items for sale. Then she could do the listings, packaging & sending off & keep the proceeds 🙂
I had a little break here 😉 The kettle is now descaled, thoroughly rinsed & back in use 🙂 & I am back
Muddy_Walker, pleased to hear that ‘jabby day’ is done & dusted & you are feeling more like your normal self 😊 Shame about the books but at least they have been read & the upside is that they can be donated to the CS (or returned to the library) with no temptation to keep them 🙂 Excellent gardening work 👏 Fingers crossed you can enjoy your sweet peas without caterpillars destroying the foliage 🤞 Really hope that your DH gets a chance to do a bit of sightseeing as Boston is beautiful 😍 & that he can ward off the migraines 🤞
oceanspirit, good luck with your admin frog 🍀 I have several to do but just cannot seem to get in the mood to start 😔 Well done to OH for the decluttering & tidying outside 👏
stellata, everything crossed that the hospital test results are fine 🤞 & that you can catch up on your sleep 🙂 Perhaps you can go through your photo library whilst you are waiting to see the doctor 🤔
Lovely post TC77 😊
Fizz2015, you might think the decluttering is going slowly BUT you are well ahead of target (1236 up to & including today 😉)for the year 🥳 & will easily manage 2023 😊 Excellent work on the digital decluttering 👏
charlies_tribe, sorry to hear that you woke up so early 😔 (I had only just gone to bed 😬) Excellent division of labour - DH dealing with potential spiders 😉 & you making decisions on what was to be disposed of 🙂 You dealing with ood doggie treats that had gone to mush brought back memories of emptying cupboards at mum & dad’s home in France. Short story coming up 😉 Dad used to cook occasionally & kept asking for bags of porcini mushrooms. As a dutiful daughter, I would buy bags every few months & post them out to him (pre Brexit). When we cleared the cupboards we found about 3 dozen bags of mushroom dust 🙄 including one open bag which stunk 🤢 Excellent digital decluttering 👏 P.S. snake feeder tongs 😱
Moorviews, thanks for the healing vibes for MrSD - they are working 🙂 You are very welcome re the medals & it gets better at the end of the year when I post The Awards List 😉 & you can see how well you have done over the year 😊 Excellent decluttering & well done on tackling frogs 👏 Not sure that frogs breed all year round 😉 but of course they do have many, many tadpoles that can grow into frogs 🤣 😥 How great that all your hard work is being rewarded by being able to clean & tidy quickly when you have visitors 🥳 Good luck with the books & DD’s room 🍀
Excellent decluttering GrannyKate 👏 Time really does fly but so lovely that you can celebrate the next generation 😊 Give it quite a few more years & you will be joining your sister as a great grandma 😉 Belated Birthday wishes to your oldest DGS 🎉 Good luck with today’s decluttering plans 🍀
Florenceem, you have been busy this morning 😊 Hope you enjoy the trip to Dover Motor Museum tomorrow & that your First Aid skills are not needed 🤞Is MrF coming with you? Well done DGS J 👏 - are the stair rails his last painting job? Your crafting skills are phenomenal & you are so speedy 🥳
Wow GrannyKate 🤩 you have done more in a few hours 👏 than I do in a few days (or should that be weeks 😂) Great work 👏
I have caught up so I suppose I should find something/anything to do - not like there’s a shortage of tasks needing my attention 😉
Have a good remainder of the day everyone & hugs all round 🤗

Been reading along. Spending most of my time at the library (last Friday's book sale netted $446.75 plus $30 when one of the customers came back on Sunday and picked up more). Still sorting the thousands of books that are on tables, under tables, and on 12 carts marked "Not Yet Sorted". Between spending part of every day last week at the library, still volunteering at the Family Search Center 2 days a week, and working on the Nods Switzerland parish register, I haven't had much time for decluttering, but the daily stuff still goes out and the weekly trash went out yesterday so making some progress. Sadly we have lost one of our feral cats (she was in bad shape so not really a surprise), but she lived here for 10 years. Her brother cat is the only feral cat we still have (down from 23 at one point!). When they are all spayed and neutered, after awhile you run out of cats. And one of our indoor cats has been poorly and may have to go in for a check-up. Just somewhat depressed about not getting things cleaned up. Having my female roommate sweep has been an experience - she hasn't even made it around once and she did such a bad job, she will be doing it again. I am hoping that she will learn - at age 65 - how to take care of herself (while I don't think it will work). Her mother never had her do any cleaning around the house. Make sure your family knows what to do to take care of themselves so they don't end up like her. Doctor says the tingling fingers are from a pinched nerve in my neck and the bruised thumb is from the sale. Yikes, falling apart too. We are just now beginning our summer - which goes until the middle of September, so it will be warming up here. Cooler here than back east right now. Take care everyone.16

Desk still not sorted but I'll get there. And I spent an hour in the garden with the lovely young chap that does monthly (NO! Not like THAT!!!) as he didn't have his even younger assistant with him and while I wanted the garden decluttered of weeds I didn't want to lose the granny bonnet seeds so dealt with those while he did the hard work.
And yes to my toy car - not quite a pedal car but OH does say it has a hamster wheel instead of an engine. Any time I'm in his big honking tank and he starts making squealing hamster noises as he backs his car closer and closer to mine. (VW up vs a Volvo SUV)

Popping in to report three bags of in and outs to the CS on my way to the festival at the weekend. Had agreat if damp time then headed over to cat sit for vulpix. She is very busy right now @MrsSD but ok.
After that visited DD and SiL and her husband in Manchester. Home at 10.30 last night and glad to be in my own bed.
During my trip away I admit to buying about 15 books. They are all used. Some are for DH and most for me for various interests. Some will be re donated once read and some to be passed on or sold. DHs are for his collection of a particular author. I did really enjoy the visit to the various bookshops, antique shops and charity shops during my time away but no more now for a long time.
Starting to look at my wool stash for Christmas gifts now. I don't want to spend much if I can and I need the space. I have three blankets planned already and will reserve some for next year as I want to make a temperature blanket. In the new year the rest will be donated.
