I am always surprised by the amount of shredding going on. What are you shredding? We don't do that much here because it takes up more room in the landfill. Things that have personal information I will shred, but if it just has my address I don't because the address is available everywhere. (Try googling yourself sometime). What items should be shredded and have there been any problems with the large amount of space it takes up?16

@weenancyinAmerica
I suspect it's the obsession here with data protection and the suspicion that someone might go through one's garbage to piece together valuable information that could end up with us being defrauded.
I've never overly worried about it but to keep others in the home happy I used to take all the various bits of paper with bank details, bills etc to work with me where there were industrial sized secure disposal bins. These had locked lids and were take off site to be opened and the contents were shredded and then put into recycling.
Now that I work in a smaller organisation but one that is highly regulated I go along with the shredding mentality but still extract those parts of the huge amount of personal stuff we see that actually have nothing personal on them. It's not due to lack of concern on my part but rather that this oranisation has a cheap shredder to deal with everything and it will only take a couple of sheets at a time. If I've got a couple of hundred pieces of paper to "bin" I try to ensure it's just the essentials that go through the chopper.

@Floss squeeze the water out of the paper, it goes hard when dry it can then go in the bin.Edit - some other good ideas already suggested thoughFocus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.15

Hello lovely declutterati!
Been in the wars this week but it is treatment day tomorrow and I’m fairly wiped out treatment week. Only realised the other day that when doing this weeks tablets I’d missed one out…a VIP tablet too 😳
Tummy decided it now hated something I’d eaten that I’ve previously had no problem with before so NET cancer went into complete meltdown. And continued the next day whilst in the office …. Cue lots of “I’ll be right back”😧
Today dr rang and has added to the list of bloods being taken next week. Sometimes what she wants to check crosses over with what my cancer team want to check. One day they’ll talk to each other 🤣
had to finish work early as was completely wiped out. New Nice Boss NNB was absolutely fine and told me to rest which made a lovely change!
Planning on electronic decluttering after jab as I can use the laptop and won’t have to get up.
Hope MrSD will be ok - he does like his travels doesn’t he! 😁😁⭐️⭐️⭐️🥇🥇🥇 2024 decluttering

Hi all, nice day weather wise here so 2 LDFPA which has made me happy as we have thunderstorms forecast for tonight and tomorrow
. I have pottered in the garden and watered ln's pots and hanging baskets. I dealt with my post and as OH was out I caught up with the women's world cup. The tournament will keep me going until the new season starts
. As I was sitting down I tackled some more emails, 700 deleted and some filed to go through another day
.
It is OH's birthday next week, present has been bought although I still need to sort a card. I have nothing suitable in my stash so will take a trip out tomorrow to get that. I also need to get a present and card for my nephew so I will see what I can find. We have arranged to go out with ln one evening next week and with some friends on another evening so that's 2 lots of cooking I don't have to do
@Brie, I love that idea of making seed paper. You could also include a piece in birthday cards for friends etc. I have actually seen cards for sale that have these in
@Muddy_Walker hugs and thank goodness for NNB
@Mrs SD hoping Mr SD is better soon hugs
Right off to bed now, hugs to anybody who would like one

MrsSD - the hospital appointment was for both of us - for micro suction - Mr F needs his ears done every 3 months and I am every 6 months so try to get the dates together twice a year. Very tired last night - left home at 12.45 and got back at 6.45. We got up the hill on our way out to see the parcel van pulling up at our house - so back down the hill I rushed to get my new fabric bundle. Mr F is not at all crafty.
Mr F has a blood test booked for today but so far we can't find the form.

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks to include MMiM - do this before I go to bed
2. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ I have an acronym - I.R.I.S. being Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off
3. Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)
4. Deal with ‘Urgent’ daily mail immediately & the rest at the weekend
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Friday is another bright morning (I was up & dressed by 09:45) - sun is shining but there is less blue sky than yesterday. After my post @ 15:34 yesterday, I did nothing but catch-up on Countdown, make dinner (chicken fried in butter, boiled potatoes (from the veg box) & sweetcorn)) then wudupa. DH’s scan went well - the Doctor could see no issues 😮💨 He has a blood test today just to confirm everything is OK, but at least it is only at the surgery rather than the hospital 🙂 I fell asleep on the sofa at about 01:30 & woke up 02:30 with a cricked neck so went to bed, hence no post last night 😉 As there is no rain forecast today I will start on the washing & proofing of our motorcycle kit …………….. DH’s trousers are now in wm using the specialist cleaning liquid (10:35) DH is now up & getting dressed. I will do the cheerleading & then write a small shopping list for me, as DH is currently excused shopping duties until all the bruising has healed & his leg has stopped hurting. I need to be a bit more organised & go shopping every 2 or 3 days whilst also using up freezer & cupboard stores 😉 😔
Excellent work sorting out the under-stairs cupboard Dfw38 👏 I almost choked on my tea reading “…. we have 4 shelves for our pantry as our kitchen is too hot to store food (will be too cold in 2 months time 🤨) and ziggy has his own shelves.... 3 of them 🤣 if dh sees this he will think I have favourites 😍” 🤣 especially as the 4th shelf appears to be taken up by snacks & goodies for the DC 🤣 Good luck with today’s job of sorting c-word stash 🍀 If you use smallish boxes, 90 boxes will be a breeze 😉
weenancy, I see Brie has explained about our obsession with shredding 😉 I will just add that we seem to be bombarded daily with stories of scams etc & I know I for one have become rather paranoid 😔 The scammers seem to get ever more inventive & the less info out there the better for my peace of mind 😅
Brie, Thanks for your compressive response to weenancy’s question about our obsession with shredding 👏
Floss, we seem to share the same mindset when it comes to privacy 😉
wort, loving this conversation about waste paper 😊 I really like the idea of waiting for the pulp to dry before binning it 👏By the way, shredded paper makes good worm bedding 😉
You are too kind daisy_1571 😊
Muddy_Walker, sorry to hear that your treatment is so exhausting 😔 However yippee to NNB 🥳 Good luck with your digital decluttering today 🍀
bit_by_bit, thank you for your kind wishes re MrSD 😊 The bruising is working it’s way down his leg & since starting his injections the redness is definitely disappearing 😮💨 Well done on reducing your wool stash 👏 Sounds like you have a lovely weekend planned 😊 P.S. is vulpix OK?
Liverpool_Anne, you had a busy Thursday 👏 You have put me to shame, as I still have the basket of folded laundry to put away 😉 but I do have my reasons aka excuses 🤣 1. I am awaiting delivery of a darning mushroom as I have a large hole to mend in one of DH’s socks & 2. I need to sort my wardrobe before putting away my laundry. Of course, that doesn’t excuse my not putting away DH’s clothes 😉 🥳 to avoiding 2 lots of cooking for such lovely reasons 😊 Great multitasking - watching football & decluttering emails 👏
Florenceem, hope the micro suction isn’t painful 🤞No wonder you were exhausted as I believe at least 5 of the 6 hours were spent travelling 😔 & having to dah back to take in your parcel of fabric probably didn’t help matters 😔 Shame MrF isn’t ‘crafty’, you will have to find something else to keep him out of mischief 😉 Hope you find the blood test form 🤞
DH has just phoned, blood test nurse is off I’ll & the surgery hadn’t got around to cancelling today’s appointments 😔 although he drop off his urine sample & has picked up a loaf of bread 😉 which means that I can avoid a trip to the sm until tomorrow 👏 The blood test has been rebooked for next Friday, the same day as his leg scan 🙄 So another day lost - although the scan is in the morning & the blood test is in the evening 😮💨
The wash has finished, so I have added the proofing glop & put the wm on again. The sun is still shining so once I have hung out DH’s bike trousers I will deal with mine. I will deal with our jackets tomorrow - weather permitting 🤞 DH arrived home 12:15 & was chatting to someone about arranging his leg scan 🤨 DH confirmed that he is already booked in 🙂
Hope everyone is enjoying their Friday 😊
