That is what I usually do. It isn’t messy, but DH shoves things into cupboards/drawers and then claims he knows what everything is and there isn’t anything to get rid of without even looking. Yesterday I was looking in the drawers for some scissors as his are a bit better than mine and found a spare dummy for DD. She got rid of all her dummies a year ago…
Anyway, given that I am weeding out so much and even the kids are doing it, I don’t think he should escape. It’s the garage I am dreading the most 😬

Edit: I did tell DH that one day he’ll go out to work and when he came back he’ll ask where all our stuff is 😆

Liverpool_Anne - DGs J stood in my black bin yesterday to crush it down so I could put more in. Mr F said - we never used to put much in the bin - I have found lots of rubbish that I can't recycle so in the bin it goes.
Mr F has admitted that if he was here helping to declutter - not so much would have gone out of the house!
QueenJess - I thought the garage was bad but Mr F's office beat it.
Up before 5.30. Hope to have a day at home - be first for 17 days.
Mr F said that a therapist was going to phone me yesterday afternoon - didn't happen. Apparently they say that our shower is too small for a stool in there and he will have to manage with strip washes - also the step into the shower is a problem.

Florenceem, there are fold down shower seats available that might work better in a small space...or are they thinking of fitting a walk-in shower?

Floss - no mention of a walk in shower. I will measure the shower tray and look at what stools are available. They probably didn't like that I refused a grab rail in the shower - worried that it would leak to leaks if they drilled in the tiles plus they are Laura Ashley tiles and expensive so don't want them ruined.I will get a suction grab rail for in there.

To be quite honest, drilling into tiles isn't much of an issue with diamond-tip drills when being done by a skilled person, and for a grab rail that would be the preferred option for a reason - if the OT felt suction rails were suitable they would be offered. If it were me, for my or my other-half's safety I would accept whatever was offered, even if it were to have my expensive decor drilled into.

The leaking issue was what concerned Mr F and I most. He isn't going to be using the shower it seems so a grab rail won't be needed.
I wonder if he will be able to get into the bath instead of a strip wash. We have 2 handles on our bath.

Don't forget to think of your ability to help if MrF struggles - would you be able to lift him out of the bath if he couldn't get out? Is there another reason why he won't be using the shower apart from no stool? And have you considered having a walk-in shower fitted instead of the bath, as a long-term change?

N.B. I'm not trying to be challenging, but wish to prompt wider thoughts about managing with less mobility, rather than keeping existing arrangements which might not be safe or appropriate as time goes on.

Florenceem can you have a shower chair in the bath with the old fashioned rubber hose things for the taps to make a shower like experience or have the taps changed to ones that include a shower head ?

@Florenceem I searched for shower seats for my Father some months ago, and I noticed there are 'swivel bath seats', and 'bath lifts for the elderly'. A bath tub is cumbersome to get into, and almost impossible to get out of if you can't get a proper grip and/or your feet beneath you. It would be dangerous for you (and your back!) if you would have to help him get out of a bath tub.

A quick internet search may give you more elegant solutions than the ones the PT offered?
