Boys room is finally getting there. Dad came to look at the radiator but didn't have the right part to fix it with him but while he was here we decided to do a whole radiator move as DS1 bed was built over it, it heats up under his bed and switches off. He couldn't do that until yesterday. He arrived yesterday morning and we fetched a new radiator and all the bits and that took up most of yesterday.
DH has painted the black walls today and we papered under the window where the radiator had been. Tomorrow that can be painted and the skirting boards and start putting the floor down. Hopefully the boys can be back in it before DH goes back to work next week.
While dad was here we cut a part of the utility room ceiling down to have a look why we have a leak above the boiler causing a stalagmite to grow, id been watchingit for a few weeks and it was definitely getting bigger. There's a small leak on a joint so he's coming to fix that when he can but I cleared the utility room floor while it was empty and I can now walk all the way to the end.

Out - a worn out bottle brush, another used up notebook (interesting doodles removed and in folder), old sim cards and more flipping keys - I found another whole stash including three back door (mortice) keys even though the only people I know with back doors have all have yale locks on them for years, two sets of different bike lock keys for a bike I no longer have, lots of tiny padlock keys probably from when I had the allotment (10 years ago), a broken filofax divider, and some tiny plastic bags headphones and cables and things like that came in. I'm counting keys, sim cards and the little bag things as an item each.
In have come some tiny free paperclips which arrived with my fountain pen and are quite cute. They also sent me some love heart sweets, which I'm not counting but will take into work as I've given up sweet things for Lent.Fashion on the Ration 2025 - 1.5 coupons remaining

I have caught the Lurgy - sore throat. If I am not better by Sunday I will take the Covid test. Still managing to get things done on the computer. Usually have three or four things going at once and bounce between them when I get tired of one.
Came across something that might be of interest to those doing family history using the FamilySearch program and not finding a film of the parish register itself. Couldn't locate a parish register but knew it had to be there as entries appeared in the Records part. Remembered from way past that for awhile when films were indexed, the film numbers for the original parish register in England were dropped from the catalog but the films are still there. You need to enter the parish name in the keyword search rather than under the place name in the Catalog search, and then check for the index film entry which will have the original film number on it. Then you can enter the film number in the catalog and the film should appear. Have been able to find three parishes so far this week for two people who were having problems.

Hi all, I have had a bit of a worrying day. My old line manager who had such a bad time last year and who I saw last week sent me a text yesterday to say the new job was just too hard and he couldn't do it any more. I tried to phone him but got no answer so sent a text to say not to do anything until he had spoken to me. Too late, he had emailed his resignation. I tried repeatedly to call him but he had turned his phone off. Today I tried several times this morning and eventually he texted me that he was on his way to the doctors so I arranged to call him this evening, tried repeatedly and again no answer. Eventually I sent a text to say I would try again tomorrow as I heard from another friend who had texted him and said he seemed better today. I feel terrible that I didn't spot this last week as I know he is prone to the black dog and has a tendancy to work himself into a state where he just goes over a cliff. I will just have to keep trying and hopefully get to see him soon.
In between the phone calls I did some decluttering. The phone wire was taken to the post office and the bed linen was mostly line dried. The last lot of washing was folded and put away. I had a little sort out in the airing cupboard. Nothing thrown away but much tidier. When my matress was dry I started to remake the bed with a really old but very good quality cotton sheet from the airing cupboard only to find it was too small. Not only not wide enough but not long enough. I have no idea where this came from, probably inherited from my Mum but for the life of me I can't work out what bed it could ever have been used on. It is too big for a cot and I can't remember ever having a child's bed. The only thing I can imagine is that sheets were much smaller after the war, yes I think it might be that old. Anyhow as it is so small but such good quality cotton I have decided to keep it to use to make something with. I did find a big enough sheet
. Then I decided to sort through a pile of paperwork and books/ magazines that had mysteriously (
) accumulated at the side of my bed and were the perfect job to distract me between attempted phone calls. I filled 2 bags with recycling which included several magazines / catalogues as well as things I had been debating about at the time I got them but now know I am not interested. I also found something that is a frog and although not urgent I have in my mind to get sorted. That's the problem with frogs, very few are urgent, they are often annoying or a bit overwhelming but not urgent. Urgent things get done straight away, even if they are yukky like clearing drains. I have also used up a notebook
.
@weenancyinAmerica, thank you for the information, a bit of family tree investigatingi is on my list of things to do when I have sorted this mess of a house out. I hope you feel better soon, look after yourself, your whole household will crumble if you get ill, hugs
So

392 wire posted
393 clean washing folded and put away

Sorry to hear you are not well weenancy. Worrying about your friend Liverpool-Anne. Fingers crossed Dfw.
I am still rough, just can't sleep because I am so bunged up. I am rubbish if I lose sleep.
DD1 is coming to stay for a week next month. She has to do a 3 day online course so we will take the opportunity to go away whilst we have a cat sitter. She is booked up most of the time seeing friends. We will go to my Mum's house and liberate a lot of stuff we have stored there. Monumental decision made. We are not going to do a carboot sale. Charity shops, brace yourselves. I have been so poor in the past for many, many years. I have relied on buying second hand and reselling afterwards to get by. This is a new era for me.
My Mum phoned and said my brother wanted me to empty her bedroom so he could sell the bedroom suite. No,soz I am poorly. Oooops. I said I would do what I could when I was better but that she had to tell him exactly what she asks me to do . Under no circumstances will I be accused of stealing from her again.
jobs n frogs today.
