Lovefilm DVD rental customers: rate your experience

  • I certainly do not love LoveFilm. I cancelled after receiving just one DVD. The reason was their inability to send films that were split over two discs in the correct order. Who would want to watch the second half of a film first? They told me that each disc was considered as a separate rental, so you'd have to wait until the other was available! Even if you were lucky enough to get them in the right order, it could be some time before the second disc was sent. I suggested they package two-disc sets as one rental, and send the discs together, but they were unwilling to do this. I'd want to watch a film in one sitting, but they made that impossible.
  • As for people complaining that they recieve DVDs from Series 3 of a program before Season 2 the answer is simple. Add the program to your watch list season by season. i.e. add Season 1 then when you've watched them all go in and add Season 2. That way they can't be sent out of order.

This might work for a Series, but not when an ordinary film is split over two discs. See my earlier post about this.

    Here goes....

    Call me cynical, BUT..........

Ive just finished a FREE 3 Month Trial with lovefilm.

    I cancelled online after 10pm.

I emptied my 'wish list' of all titles.

    I posted all 3 dvds back together.........in 1 envelope!!

    GUESS WHAT?

Only 2 of the titles have been listed as received............ 1 dvd is 'according to them' outstanding (un-returned).

    MMM? How's that possible?

Me thinks they are now going to take a subscription payment from me!?

Me thinks that when they have a months money from me, the 'missing' disc will suddenly re-appear!!

    GGRRRRR

Hope you got a certificate of postage. I signed up with Lovefilm last year on the 30 days trial then ended the account, Then i read on Hotspots that there was a code that a returning customer could enter for a further 90 days, Below is the extract from that site.

I've never heard of a film being split over 2 DVD's before. How long is the film you want to watch if it can't fit on one disc? What film did you rent?

I cancelled today because we signed up to the 18.99 a month package for 3 films/games at home at same time, in the whole 3 months we never received one game, only dvds.
Real men never follow instructions; after all they are just the manufacturer's opinion on how to put something together. :p

The only major problem I found with them is that the newly released top titles can take six weeks plus to get your hands on them

Have used the hotspots code for another three month trial but they dont seem to want to validate my card details. Its the same card as last time and a decent time after the last trial so I dont know what the problem is, waiting for them to email me an explanation.

I used to be member of Lovefilm ages ago but fed up with the slow turnover towards the end. Someone posted the "3 months free trial" code, so despite all the warnings :) I thought I would give it a go.

Got my first 3 disc today, I was really looking forward to watch one of them tonight, which turned out to be a French art film which has never been on my list, so they mixed it up.

    Not a good start...
