Just to alert other LOVEFILM users ...
Recently, I received a message from them asking me to update my card details (as many accounts are changing from Maestro to Visa - as mine is). BUT - thought I'd check and it turns out that by doing so I enter into a recurring card payment which is NOT the same as other payments in that I can't cancel it without their agreement.
I'm now loathe to update my card details, but I'd like to continue membership. Does anyone have any advice?0 -
Lovefilm finally got back to me.
With regards to the £20 Sendit voucher, due to a staggered registration, you were not picked up automatically by the system in order to receive your promotional item. We can confirm that your details have been passed to the promotional team who have arranged to have this dispatched to you as soon as possible.
They added 2 free extra dispatch to my account and I received them today. Hope I get the voucher soon. But every month I don't get it, I will be asking what they intend to do to compensate, so maybe get a few more free rentals.Former MSE user - I don't post on MSE anymore, or respond to PMs. I would like to be able to officially set profile to "former user" which would be helpful as it seems you can never leave MSE - just choose not to use it!0 -
I was with Lovefilm for quite a while - joined in the days when they were called Screenselect. Service was very speedy for a long time, then gradually slowed down a little, but was still acceptable.
Then, a couple of years ago, they had a problem with my debit card and started sending me emails telling me I needed a new card. The card was from Barclays and I used it regularly, both for online purchases and purchases in local stores with no problem. However, for some reason, Lovefilm couldn't process it, even though they'd been using the same card to take my payments for months. I started getting emails saying my payment was overdue, and every time I replied I'd simply get a copy and paste answer which was totally irrelevant to the email I'd sent. I re-entered my card details a number of times, but apparently they still couldn't validate it.
They weren't sending me dvds, and hadn't since they'd had the 'problem' with my card, but were still sending me emails saying I owed them money. At this point I tried to cancel and asked them to stop contacting me since I didn't owe them anything. However, the emails continued for months after that, and although they eventually stopped asking me for payments, to this day, I still receive emails saying my account is on hold until I provide a new card number.
Been with Blockbuster ever since, and I doubt I'll ever go back, even though they keep sending me 'special offers' to try and tempt me...0 -
i have been with Lovefilm for years since days of screenselect.
Service is 10/10 for me..never really had a problem. When i did not receive a new disk loan becuase they did not check my rental list correctly, they were very quick to reply and dispatch one from my email to CS.0 -
Only problem I have with Lovefilm is if I want a series of DVD's (for example the Saw collection), istead of sending me 1, 2, 3, 4, 5... and so on, they'll send them all out of sync. I had recently 3, 5, 1, 2, 40

Thats annoying! Have you spoken to them about it?
I rented the In Treatment series (9 DVDs) I got all mine in order, so its not the same for everyone- and probably a good thing for them: would have screamed murder if they had sent me back to front DVDs!0 -

Sounds very annoying but I think there is a 'thing' you have to tick somewhere to avoid this?Wine, women and weaselsAnything else starting with 'w'?

I love LoveFilm. I have been with them about 6 months following a free trial with cashback. It was a refreshing change from Sky movies which places the same new films on every day for week on 2 channels and the rest is full of older films like Home Alone which seemed to be on every week even in summer. After a successful trial plus another month I canceled my sky subscription saving me nearly £50 a month. I am on the £15.99 package and there are three of us in our family managing a list each! We are not bothered by what comes as anything we have not seen before is a bonus. We keep one film on our top priority and about 4 on our medium priority and I think have only had a low priority film once. Some new releases have taken a month to be sent (never more) but some, like Shutter Island, came as soon as it moved from my hubby's reserve list. Also as the package is unlimited we tend to list films that we perhaps would not have rented normally and have seen some great films such as foreign ones. I only wait two days for a new DVD sometimes three but have got into a good posting system and always watch around 6 a week. It has worked for us and is a real Money Saver! :TJULES

I'm received DVDs quickly but I'm getting increasingly annoyed to be always sent DVDs from my low priority list even though there are 6 in my high and medium list.
I complained by their e-mail system just to vent steam. They e-mailed me to explain the system (which I understand perfectly well).
However, I was then told I would be sent the DVD on the top of the list today in addition to the one they sent yesterday (I'm on the 1 disc at a time sub).
So a result - but begs the question - why didn't they send me the DVD at the top of my list yesterday as my normal DVD?!¿Alguien ha visto a mi nave espacial?
Biting is excellent. It's like kissing, only there's a winner.0
