HSBC Switch Criteria - £200

Looks like you are in luck as @AlwaysLearnin has found you proof: the relevant passage to cut/paste quote. Mind after all the hassle I would be hoping for more than £10........ (Delays not all of their making of course, but they might want to keep a customer happy)misspretenderboat said:KatieHound
couldn't quote your post so just to reply.
I did actually receive my cards and pin after 17 days but as I presumed they were lost I had rung HSBC the day before they delivered to cancel so now waiting for new cards, pin and card reader to be sent
Curiously, the email they sent me to say they would give me £10 for delayed cards has been changed. I thought you had to request a recall email to do this? So I have no proof now.
HSBC sent me a 'how are we doing with your switch' email today so laid everything out especially their recinded email and now I don't trust them plus them going back on their word re card delay promise.
I will still make a complaint once I receive my cards.
I have no idea when my account will be switched. Was meant to have been 3rd Jan but old account still active.
Leaves a very sour taste I feel my stay with them will be short-lived though I did join for their children's and saver accounts. The £200 Was a bonus as Barclays were offering very little at the time but may look to switch again to avoid troubles ahead at the next available opportunity.
Without trawling right back I can't remember if this is your only account.
I hope not!
make absolutely sure that you have a second (or more) donor account to switch. These days of IT glitches all the eggs in one basket is not advisableBeing polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

I have another account and had transferred some funds over in case of issues and no it's not my main account that's switching thank goodness.
Thank you KatieHound I will use that quote from Alwayslearning.
Has anyone gone back to an email to find wording has been changed? Never ever had that before and for a bank it's seems nonsensical to avoid paying £10. Ordered new set of cards on Fri 6th Jan so will be 5 working days tmrw. Will sit tight til Saturday and see.
In the meantime will call again as I received a text on 21st Dec to say account was set up but no msgs to confirm switch dates. Should have been 3rd Jan though have no dd,s and standing orders until 25th so should be ok.

CRISPIANNE3 said:I applied last night for the HSBC Advance account and submitted the application. It then said I qualified for an overdraft and credit card. I declined on both counts. However when it came to filling the switch part I got cut off. However they confirmed via the phone today they application had all gone through and when the account is open I can then do the switch.
Also I had a Marks and Spencer bank account that was originally opened in 2017 and closed when they withdraw current accounts. Hopefully I will still be ok.
I applied on the 22 December and was told I had been accepted for the Advanced account. I then received a text advising the were very busy and would take longer than usual. It is now the 15th January and still not heard anything. I tried phoning them but completely useless. If I do not have a sort code or account number they cannot help. I asked to be put through to the new application dept but advise they do not have one. Any suggestions please how I can speak to someone about the application.

^^^^ well, you applied right at the one time of year when bank holidays prevail and most folk are on holiday.
As long as this is not your only account I wouldn't worry since you know you have been accepted. If there is a cut off date for the switch bonus then you will be able to make a complaint of you are unable to comply due to their tardiness.

I would expect them to be able to track an application from name , postcode etc.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Thanks for reply. I rang them first thing and they confirmed because of the holidays they have a huge back log. However the account is in the process of being opened.Katiehound said:^^^^ well, you applied right at the one time of year when bank holidays prevail and most folk are on holiday.

I've finally received my bank cards. My account is open but switch which should have been on 4th Jan has not happened yet and no msgs to say when this will happen.misspretenderboat said:I have another account and had transferred some funds over in case of issues and no it's not my main account that's switching thank goodness.

As you say KatieHound a backlog from holidays so will sit tight..however, have transferred most of my money out of old account just in case it goes awry. Not impressed with HSBC so far.0 -
I receive £100 sorry because HSBC "unable to meet switch date". I receive before £20 because account was open so late and no card. Terrible customer service. Branch tell me phone, phone tell me go to branch. Nobody does action only wait and say we don't know. I will switch it.1

Called HSBC again yest. They admitted the details they had for old a account was not correct. So switch will now be in February after dd's come out. I asked for £10 as was banks promise for late cards but she apologised and gave me £60 for inconvenience and hinted If I was not happy with that to raise a complaint with them.
Have spent hours on phone to old and new bank plus fruitless visits to town centre banks to get sorted.
Would you pursue for more than £60 as post above this one was offered or should I just accept?1 -
Well, you already have the £60 for inconvenience- raising a complaint is a different issuemisspretenderboat said:Called HSBC again yest. if you have had fruitless visits to town centre to resolve something that was not of your making and an error on their part I would wait until the switch is complete and then raise a complaint. Have a quick resume of what went wrong, wasted journeys, cost of phone calls etc and very long delays then see what they offer. I assume they are going to pay the switch bonus anyway. if not, that's another formal complaint!
(Not the same bank but a few years ago NatWest seriously messed me around & I got a few small handouts!)Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Phoned them again today and as already said I have been accepted but now doing customer due diligence. I have now been advised could be another month as they are snowed under with applications.CRISPIANNE3 said:
