HSBC Switch Criteria - £200

Hi,

Im unable to ask HSBC via their chat function, so was wondering can the account only have 2 standing orders to be eligible? It says 2 direct debit or 2 standing orders, but i am worried without DDs it will not be successful.

Thanks.

Well, if it says "switch 2+ Direct Debits OR standing orders", then it's very clear that 2 standing orders are fine. As simple as that.
  • Thanks, i will give a try. If anyone else has done it via standing orders only it would be good to post and let us know
  • I have done 2 standing orders. Will let you know how it goes
  • I've done 2 x SOs for past incentives and have qualified. The terms are very clear that this is allowed. If it wasn't, then they would specify otherwise.

Do HSBC ever inform you whether you qualify, or is it a case of waiting 20 days after the switch/funding date to see whether a payment is credited to your account?
  • So on 16th November 2022 i went to HSBC online to get the £200 switch account and open new account.

The switch account date was supposed to be 30th November 2022 but they have not opened new account or switched account, because they are taking longer than normal.

Once they open new account I now have to request a new switch apparently so they are not doing what was agreed. Would I still be getting the £200 if they open the account and change or cancel the switch benefit?

Seems they are taking forever to open the account but not telling me why...
  • Seeing as the nationwide £200 deal has gone (was late in getting that) i'll give this one a go :)
  • Have any former HSBC advance customers who’ve received a switching bonus previously, tried switching over recently to test how tight their ‘new customers only’ rule is?

Applied on the 10th Nov, uploaded docs on the 15th - have heard nothing since and no email with any application reference or anything.  Has anyone actually heard back - how long did it take - is there a contact number anywhere we can call to get the status?

Try 0345 587 3430, that's where I contacted them when I wanted to enquire about the status of my application, took a while (the lady had to check all my profiles I have with them for the one that's a fresh application) but was able to help me in the end. When I applied, they told me it would be 10 days until the decision, and that's what it was in the end.
