You can always put in £500, then take it out and repeat x 2 or any other sum in and out as long as you achieve the total by the deadline

Hi My wife and I opened HSBC accounts and both had switches completed 6th Dec. My wife has had her £200 but i have not. My wife has NEVER had an HSBC account but I have, although it was closed Jan 2018. I read terms of offer as those who had accounts with HSBC and First direct would qualify if not open 01/01/2019 but it could also be interpreted as those who have ever had an HSBC account would NOT qualify. Your thoughts please.Cheers!!!0

How are you interpreting it as 'ever'? You should be eligible if you've not held an HSBC account since 2019 and not opened a First Direct account since 2019.

It might well be if you have ever had a First Direct account- but that is if you are applying for FD rather than HSBCBeing polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

If anyone's still waiting for their debit card and PIN, the emailed Welcome Pack contains the following:
Our account opening guaranteeWe know you want your new HSBC Advance account to be up and running as soon as possible. Your Advance Debit Card will be delivered to your home address within five working days and your PIN within seven working days. We’re so sure of this, we’ll give you £10 if they’re delayed.
I was able to claim the £10.

What's a respectable time, after swtching, to hold this account before moving on?

I applied last night for the HSBC Advance account and submitted the application. It then said I qualified for an overdraft and credit card. I declined on both counts. However when it came to filling the switch part I got cut off. However they confirmed via the phone today they application had all gone through and when the account is open I can then do the switch.
Also I had a Marks and Spencer bank account that was originally opened in 2017 and closed when they withdraw current accounts. Hopefully I will still be ok.0 -
Has anyone had any luck still getting a switch bonus for a switch into either FD or HSBC even though they have previously had an account with one or the other in the last couple of years? I know it goes against the eligibility criteria but I've heard a couple of people say they did get a HSBC bonus still even though they had a FD account before and vice versa? Don't know if anyone else has also got this as well?0

I received a First Direct switching bonus in early 2021, and the account was closed soon after.2 -

Opened it again on 1st December 2022 ( it had taken them three weeks after I applied in November), switched one of my mule accounts into it, received my switching bonus yesterday. At no point I was advised about my eligibility and was unsure whether I would receive the bonus, got an unexpected text yesterday, was a nice surprise.1
