It was the general implication in the post that women should make an effort that I was impressed by. Having said that, at least faking it is better than being complacent in the assumption that a relationship will last without regular nookie. Truth is that most women prepared to fake it will also be prepared to increase their sex drives through healthy eating, exercise etc.

Yet another huge, sweeping statement I'm afraid. Where on earth did you get this last idea from?!
By the way, I have no argument with the fact that us women should make an effort with physical appearance, but also find it equally important that men do the same. Would you agree?

Hmm, I rec'd that post as well, but instead of recommending faking it, I'd say just allow yourselves to be seduced.

Even *I* (and from this thread I deduce I'm the only woman in the UK who actually likes sex!!! ;)) sometimes don't feel in the mood - but instead of pushing my SO away, I let him charm me, seduce me, remind me why I fell for him in the first place... and we both get a happy ending (or few :D)!
    Cogito, ergo sum.

oh silly me, despite being a 30 something bloke I've never been in any relationships with women so of course have no experience in this sort of thing
  • I find it objectionable that a woman putting on weight might be considered a sign of 'not making the effort' - good grief, there are lots of reasons for weight gain!

Why bother to stay trim in any case? The prevailing feeling on the thread seems to be that men in general are always horny - so I doubt a bit of blubber would be a significant deterrent.

Presumably it matters not a jot how lardy the guy is?

The post you were praising so much advocated 'faking it' once or twice a week!

My Mum made my Dad go without sex for nearly 25 years and he says he wouldn't have minded a bit of faking at least once a week

When I say faking it i'm not talking about the when Harry met Sally
    faked Orgasm scenario

I simply mean making the effort to make love with your partner even if sexually you know you won't get much from it and you'd far rather be watching paint dry.

So open your legs in return for a 'good' man/home/security?
I thought that was prostitution not a mutually supportive and loving relationship

No........a prostitute has sex with strangers in exchange for money

We are talking about the differing sex drives of couples in a relationship which i'm assuming both of them are in because they love each other.

The OP quoted his wife as saying she didn't really have much interest in sex and participated more at the beginning of their relationship to keep him happy

My point is if she can make the effort then ,why can't she do it now.

And anyway if you have a good man who loves, supports (and I don't mean financially) and in every respect treats you well whats so wrong in wanting to make him happy sexually even if you really aren't that bothered?

BTW i'm not some demure little stepford wife who does everything to please her man. But i'm not naive enough to believe that a man can happily live long term with a woman who avoids sex.

How busy is she? How much do you help around the house? I know I don't want my OH if he's not done his share around the house and not been very considerate towards me. You have to make love to her mind as well as her body. She needs to feel loved and special to you, not just for sex but as a friend too.

Hormones also play a part, three times a month, a woman can be really up for it and the other times she can take it or leave it. Take advantage of those times and if you consider her other needs, I am sure she will be wanting you more often.

Is she depressed at all? I suffered from depression for years and I had zero sex drive.

Also I was on the pill, which bizarrely enough effected me alot. I came off it a while back, and now I'm some kind of rampant maniac....or it could be I'm just about to turn 30...I dunno.
