I would take these bits to mean the last 10 eligible days:

"Step 1 of the BL01 process is to identify the historical Settlement Days (in the sixty-day window from day D–60 to day D–1) that will be used to calculate the DFS Operational Baseline. The process begins with identifying all “Eligible Days” for each relevant Unit Meter Point i.e. Settlement Days in the sixty-day window that:
    • are of the same time type (Working Day or Non-Working Day) as day D;
    • have Half-Hourly (HH) Metered data available for the Unit Meter Point
    • are not Event Days; and
    • are not ‘clock change’ days (i.e. the calendar days at the start and end of British Summer Time, currently the last Sunday of March and October)."

    "Historical Settlement Days used to
    calculate the baseline
    Ten most recent Eligible Days"

Basically as long as there are 10 eligible days in the last 60 days, they will be used for baseline purposes.

I'm looking forward to our first weekend/bank holiday session, so I can make sure I've got this bit about using the 2 median days right:

  • Ah, missed that chart. Last ten eligible days indeed.

I got my IDA up to 3.6535 kWh today. Meaning I should be paid £35.41 if I turn off for the whole 2 hours (which I will!)

Can I ask how you got the figure of £35?
So far i've only earnt 18p! Decided to load shift before hand and between 1pm and 4pm I used 6.76kWh.
    Between 5-7 I used 0.04kWh
Will be interested to see how this pans out!
If you used 6.76kWh between those 3 hours, your IDA will be 1.12kWh (Total kWh consumed in measurement period, divided by 6), so (I think, rough maths) that should be something around £10 for yesterday.

Will vary a bit based on what you *usually* use between 1-4pm (that's taken off of the IDA) - and obviously a small amount based on what you usually use between 5-7pm too.

Brilliant, thank you. Looking forward to seeing ther results. I use very little during the day as run on batteries charged overnight.
My use for the 3 hours yesterday cost £2.90, so anything earned in points above that will be a huge bonus, especially as I had fully charged batteries after!

The balancing mechanism (Elexon) disagrees with you:

    Still a noticeable peak.

There is also no significant change in either the generation output or the interconnector flows, apart from a small reduction in import from Belgium (black curve).

Which is odd, because Gridwatch claim they get their data directly from Elexon.

Thanks for sharing alternative graphs. I think the smoothing / lack of is just a case of scale. The Elexon has a larger vertical scale than the gridwatch, so it shows the peak more clearly.

And I think the dip is just how the graphs are stacked on gridwatch. There are small dips on 4 graphs that I can see, and 3 that don't change. The order they stack could exacerbate any change. I think it is just luck in this case that the stacking order really highlights the dip. Now I'm wondering what happened on the continent though.

Just goes to show that even when looking at relatively unprocessed data, how it is displayed can be pretty important.

  • Results are in, £9.99 (7992 points) earned. Was certainly worth spending the £2.90 getting my batteries charged up in the period before!

I was 4 octopoints out in my calculation this time, which suggests Octopus calculate octopoints per 30 minute period rather than on the total, and always round up.

My calculation total: £35.41p (28324 octopoints)
    Octopus total: 28328

I was two points out this time. Still not sure what happened in the first two sessions. I've been 1, 7 and 2 points out for the last three sessions but my calculation is a lot more out than that in the first two.
