Bedroom storage heater has been turned up to just under half way. The kitchen one has been on full whack for a week now but is undersized so it maxes out at 16C. The hall heater has been switched on today but really I should have put it on last night as the hall was 10C this morning.

My house was 13C this morning, it was 17C when we went to bed. Heating was on from 8am-1pm to get it to 18C. Tomorrow is meter reading day and I'm still positive it will be much lower than last November.

Had it on on Sunday only for a couple of hours, really to make sure everything is working. I think i will be caving in soon though as the temperature is slowly dropping now. I'm still wearing a thick jumper at night.
  • I'm still absolutely fine with just an electric heated throw on at times during the day/evening (what a purchase that was!) and a hot water bottle at night. No idea what the temp of my house is (no thermostat or thermometer) but its currently about 6 degrees outside. I think my electricity use will be slightly up on last year when I next do a meter reading, due to the electric throw mainly, but gas way down as I was definitely using the heating for a few hours a day this time last year.
I've yet to bleed the radiators but will get around to that sometime this week I'm sure, in preparation for when I finally bite the bullet.

Had it on about 4 or 5 times so far - mostly to knock the "chill" off as my youngest son is a total cold a^&e (it was "cold" in Ibiza at 26C apparently). I'd have settled for once when it was icy outside but sometimes it's nice to just have peace and quiet...
Conversely my daughter and eldest son are still paddling about in shorts and t-shirts and turn their radiators off as it's "too warm".

As someone else said the IHD has been unplugged and the thermostats and heat pump are set to do their thing everyday and looking at the IHD won't stop it churning on.

That said, and only due to the mild start of November we had, on target to save 200kWh electricity on November 2021.

As I'm working in the small office most days, I'm actually getting to the point now where I'm thinking setting the heating on 15c and having a small electric heater in the office to boost it to 18c as that could in theory be cheaper than replacing the radiator in the office with a large more efficient one. Need to measure my gas consumption over the next few days and make a decision...

had ours on since end of September. We live in a cold house and i have a 4 and half year old and a 4 month old so we have no choice, spending between £6 - 7 per day on gas at the minute.  The upstairs is particular bad as we havea low roof line and there's no insulation in the Eaves to combat the cold external temperatures.  I borrowed my works thermal imaging gun last week to check and where the ceiling slops to meet the roof the temperatures were stupidly low

I ve cracked but only for four hours in the evening 6.pm to 10 pm .Taking readings from the gas meter at start and finish because I m varying the boiler settings and TRV s to see if it makes any difference.

I lowered the flow rate from 65 cto 55 c but it does take a long time to heat the main room up . My friend who is a Gas safe engineer says it should nt make any difference but just take longer to heat up. Like a 3000 watt kettle boils a cup faster than a 2000 watt kettle and costs the same amount.

My 4 evenings so far have cost not far off the same amount using just over 2 metric units / 24 kwh/ £2.50 for four hours .
I m going to increase the flow rate to 60 c to see if its more expensive

That thermal image gives a pretty good indication of where the ceiling joists are. Fixing some insulated plasterboard up, you'll be able to hit the joists when putting screws in. Looks like you also have a bit of a cold spot down the right hand side of the window..
