Not bad got to the 4th November but it's on and set to 18oC.

Let's see how that goes but suspect it will get nudged up a bit.

What is your heating temperature going to be set at and do you think it's achievable?

It come on last night for 30 minutes at 6pm at 16c.
Came on this morning for 30 minutes at 15c just to take the chill off, sun is out now so not needed and turned off until tonight when it'll be changed to 16c.
Current argument is that if you are feeling cold you are not wearing enough clothes :D

Got the kitchen storage heater on 3/4 and currently 20C in here. I put the bedroom one on the lowest setting for the first time this year and woke up to a toasty 14.7C. Everywhere else is staying off.
  • Not yet, it has started to feel a bit nippy in the morning so it won't be long now.

We usually set it to 18/19°

At the moment we are enjoying the sun heating our living room through a large bay window it makes a huge difference, but the kitchen diner is cold and dark

Still nope. The weather down here is still quite mild - the world is so messed up. I thought the mornings would be a lot more frosty by now. The thermostat is at 17 but I don't actually think the temp of the room has gone below 18 (what it's normally set at).

In saying that, Wednesday middle of the day there was a chill in the house so herself sparked up the log burner and it got it's first proper extended run. It's good to see that with a few doors open it does a good job of heating the rest of the downstairs.

Edit - I just had a quick check downstairs, the living room window is open and the reading on the hive thingymabob is 18.4. I'm working away upstairs and can't say I feel cold although I will likely swap the shorts for a pair of jeans soon - but that's more of a "can't leave the house looking like a scruff" thing than feeling the chill

Not for me this time last year i was wearing thick jumpers at night but no heating on, it's definitely so much warmer this year as I'm not needing to wear thick jumpers yet.

3 degrees outside and around 16-17 indoors when we got up, the heatpump just gets on with it. Target temperature in the lounge and study is 20 but SWMBO will nudge it up a bit and hope I don't notice.

If we let the temp drop much below 17 it can take 4-5 hours to recover the temps as our flow temp is only around 36 degrees at 3 degrees outside. As the day warms up, the flow temp drops down to around 30 as its weather compensated.

  • Still haven't got mine set to come automatically but I had it on yesterday evening and for 45 mins this morning as it was 16c in here (17.6c) now but sunlight coming through the windows. The day is getting closer though.....

I cracked a little last night with the temp recording 12 c on a cheap digital thermometer and 9 c on a mercury one  in the main room
Out came "stage 2 " of my  campaign with  the electric Halogen heater on the 400 watt bar only ( 13 p an hour )  for 2 hours
This felt fine so if I can manage this till December when the proper cold starts with sub zero nights i can then let rip with the full gas central heating on and use 50 kwhs a day until April.

I remember that so many people , 1 in 4 ,were saying they would not be putting any heating on at all in the winter .
Best of luck to this bravado but I bet most will give in and say "its only money , lifes too short "etc and give up
  • Not on here yet aside from just the bathroom towel rail for a couple of hours. Definitely felt chillier out this morning and the thermometer told me that the front room was only just above 18° first thing - it’s certainly feeling a bit more brrr than it has been! Although it’s sunny here today even that is having relatively little effect on warming things - it’s only increased the front room temperature by 0.2°.

I think we may need to rescue the small oil filled rad from the garage where it has been stored - as that is our usual first port of call when it just gets that bit too chilly to be comfortable in the evenings - an hour of that is enough, and works out more cost effective than powering up the storage heaters until they are actually needed.

It's a bit chillier this morning, down to 11C in the lounge, so I went to put the heating on for the first time since the boiler service, which was in August iirc. But it's not firing up for some reason, so am having to get someone out to look at it but it will probably have to be after the weekend as I am out most of today and tomorrow.

Hopefully it won't be too much of an issue, it was moved a couple of times while work was done on the outside walls this summer, so they say it may have an airlock problem.
