Stat in living room is set to 17C and the heating has clicked in for a bit in the morning a few times now. Room faces SW so any afternoon sun warms it up, usually to around 20C and we're closing the curtains at dusk, so far no heating needed later in the day. I reckon the cushion I shoved up the chimney is helping, as are the thermal curtain linings I added.
Keeping the living room door shut in the evenings would help, hubby hasn't got into the habit yet, me getting up to do it and giving him "the look" should see that sorted soon

our thermostat is in the hall set to 16 and the boiler has been on heating and hot water since about the middle of oct. ive not heard it click on much as were a quite draft proofed house downstairs (bedroom windows are still at least cracked in all the rooms i think). we've also had a few fires in the lounge in the evening but normally just one load of logs to take the chill off and let it burn out after dinner.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

Central heating has been on since the beginning of October at 20.5. However, it barely came on, and we didn't use a single bar of oil in the month, which is unusual. Partly because it was very mild and partly because we ran the wood burners every day. Plus, the AGA generated enough heat in the room with the thermostat to keep the ambient temperature higher.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Nearest Met Office station showed a slight dip below freezing overnight but I only recorded a low of 1.1C.
Downstairs hallways is usually the coldest part of the house and that was showing 17C this morning. The hallway has heated up with the sun now to 18.5C and my north facing office is at 21C with the slight heating effect from computers and monitors.
Heating hasn't kicked in at all this year yet but I don't think it will be many more days before it needs a quick morning boost.0 -
Mstty said:Not bad got to the 4th November but it's on and set to 18oC.
Let's see how that goes but suspect it will get nudged up a bit.
What is your heating temperature going to be set at and do you think it's achievable?Someone please tell me what money is0 -
We turned the boiler back on mid October but it has only fired up a handful of times thanks to the house being really warm and very well insulated. We just leave the thermostat and timers to do their job.
The temperature depends on the time of the day. It's set for 19 degrees when we get up, 15 degrees during the day while we are at work, 20 degrees for a few hours when we get home and 15 degrees overnight.
For weekends when we are at home more it's set to be 20 degrees for longer.1 -
I used the heating briefly last night but have yet to so far today. My heating is never 'officially on' and I turn it on and off manually as required, which for me saves energy vs relying solely on a thermostat.2
