I've had mine on as and when I need it - couple of hours in the evening generally. it's set to 17.5c and I'm wearing more layers. Fortunately I'm not in a position where I have to choose to heat or eat, but I'm doing a few things to try and cut my energy consumption - turned down my boiler, make sure I don't leave things on standby etc. I'm trying to get my house better insulated room by room with internal insulation - it is making a difference. 1930s house, loft insulation but no wall insulation in general, but getting there slowly!1

Maybe that's the future, save money.....ditch the family lol.Recycle the food chain. But somebody is bound to still be disagreeable and cause stomach upsets.

Yea, it was the New Year's and it was 19C in London. I was glad, because I had family over and they would not have appreciated my energy saving attempts back then keeping the house at 18.5-19C. So I was able to keep the temp a bit higher for them without it costing too much.Alnat1 said:Was it last year that Christmas/New Year was unseasonably warm?0 -
Interestingly we have been at home this weekend rather than out and about in the motorhome and we are still using the same kWh of gas to heat the house all day as we are to heat it for a few hours when we are at work.

When pandemic hit and we went from working in the office 5 days a week to working from home full time, our gas usage actually reduced. Body heat and heat from the computer kept the house warmer. I was tracking it all in a spreadsheets, so it was very interesting to see. This was our previous house, it's different now with lower EPC and bigger square footage in the new house.RelievedSheff said:Interestingly we have been at home this weekend rather than out and about in the motorhome and we are still using the same kWh of gas to heat the house all day as we are to heat it for a few hours when we are at work.0
