Got me a couple of Sanitas electric blankets from Lidl a few weeks back. Longer than the equivalent Silentnight one, has more heat settings, timer function, and an extra warm foot zone. Having to fight the cat for bed space now.Added bonus - It uses about 25W (on No.2 setting), so isn't going to add hugely to the electricity bill.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

£19.99 each. You'll probably find they are sold out now, but you may find them elsewhere.. The one I've got is the SWB55.Astria said:

Honestly can’t understand how everyone’s houses in this thread stay so warm (or you can withstand living in such cold temps). Our heating has been on since Sept, thermostat set to 18c most days. We are up north though.
The wife and I were in the office today so the heating has been off since 10pm last night. When we got back to the house at 16:15 today the house was 13c.
Anyway, our usage is greatly reduced from last year when we set the thermostat to 21c so we’re winning the personal battle. We’re averaging 55kwh a day in Nov compared to 108kwh a day last year and 94kwh a day in Nov 2020.3 -
1 hour a day only, started last Saturday, about 15c, cold but oodie on and sorted.0

People are saying it hasn't been that cold yet. It's been 3C during the night for the past few days here in the South East 🥶2 -
Room temp staying above 15C with no heating, so currently no need for me, my tolerance is probably down to about 12-13C.0

Thermal vests and longjohns help us stay warmbut sayng that - the temperature has stayed above 17 degrees without heating so far this yearIt still surprises me, how many people just claim to turn on their central heating in say, October and leave it running until April 1st, relying on Thermostats to save them money
We save money, by switching in on when its really cold and physically switching it off after an hour or so..........In fact - in the 22 years that we have lived in this house - not once has a thermostat kicked in to turn the heating on or off !
If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.0 -

Have had just two nights here (East of England) where it has dropped to below 4°C this month (19th & 21st). Temperature indoors dropped to around 17°C from a high of 19-20°C and the central heating has not kicked in at all overnight, just an hour or so in the morning, and another hour in the evening.Ally_E. said: People are saying it hasn't been that cold yet. The new windows are doing their job - Just need to finish insulating the walls now.

We have been away since Sunday and just got home. 11.5 degrees in the house. Needless to say the heating is on but we have refrained from putting on the electric fire and wearing Oodies with hot water bottles in the pocket till it warms up. I suspect the money we saved for the last few days having it all off will all be spent getting the house up yo 18 degrees.1
