My friend switched to Co-op bank last week. Could I benefit from this offer by opening an account today and referring them? Would it look weird if the Referrer's account is newer than the Recommend friend's account? TIA
It'd be safer to ask your friend to refer you if you don't already hold a Co-op account IMHO.

Do I need to wait for my switch to of completed (13/3) before I refer my partner? Or can I do it as soon as we both have our account nos and sort code?
    Thanks

    Thanks

Your account needs to be open before your partner applies. To avoid any potential problems, ensure you have your sort code and account number, and can see the account in online/mobile banking.

The actual referral process is just a case of the referred friend filling in an online form once they know their confirmed switch date (not just the prospective completion date that was chosen). Unless they're in a rush, there's no harm in waiting until the switch has actually completed before submitting the referral form.

  • Still a bit confused by the T&C's. Will the recommender receive £125 for each person they refer? Or are they limited to one incentive payment regardless of how many people they refer? Thanks

£125 per referral. I've read (MSE? Reddit?) that Co-Op Bank have written to some prolific referrers complementing them on their huge network of friends and relatives.

I don't think there were compliments in these emails either. Insinuations perhaps?

I can't say for sure as I didn't receive one since I don't have that many friends and the ones I do have are resistant to bank switching. 😂

I think Lobster was sarcastically using ‘compliment’

Yeah, I know 🤭 It was cute. I was just being a pedant about complement vs compliment. No offense meant Mr Lobster.
