You can do that! Starling won't let you open another account with them for 6-12 months after doing this mind. You can state to Co-Op you don't have a card, but seen as Starling give you the details in the app I'd just put them inscoey8 said:Does anyone know if it will be safe to switch and get the referral by switching from a Starling bank account that was only opened 2 weeks ago? Any potential pitfalls? Also do you need to input the card details of the bank you are switching from or just the sortcode and account number? Thanks

Don't tell Co-op you don't have a card unless you actually don't have a valid debit card.adamp87 said:

Your losing bank will block the request and it'll just delay things. If you can get the details out of the app, do that. If you can't then request a new card before requesting a switch.1 -
OK how does this work if one doesn't have any friends with a Co Op account?0
-
It doesn't unless you can find a friend who is prepared to open a Co-op account and refer you or vice versa.theonenonly said:OK how does this work if one doesn't have any friends with a Co Op account?0 -
Friends for the purpose of referral may be made at other websites which I'm not sure if I can mention?Bridlington1 said:

How soon after making an account can one refer someone?0
-
As soon as you know the account is open - the best way to be sure is to wait for either a letter or email from the bank which shows your sort code and account number.theonenonly said:How soon after making an account can one refer someone?0 -
Is it better to not then complete the application until the debit card comes through, even if I have the account and sortcode numbers?WillPS said:

If you have the account numbers, then the account is open and you can safely refer.theonenonly said:

Debit card is not needed but if you have received that then the account is definitely open.0 -
