Co-operative Refer a Friend Switching Offer £125 (Nov 2022)

  • Just noticed this offer and I've missed it, I always look at the "top bank accounts" part of the website and the Co-op bank was never listed on there despite having this offer, why is that?
It might be that the Co-op deal requires a referral from an existing account holder and referral codes and links are not allowed under this Forum's rules.

Look's like my wife's switch has failed. Letter confirmed date of 03/01/2023 but email later changed this to 05/01/2023. Money still in Santander and no payees have been transferred across. Also, no text was received confirming the switch date (I had received text for my switch on the date the switch started).

That's interesting, had the same date and change, and am in same situation, though donor account is Barclays.

There's quite a few offers which have come and gone without being reported on the MSE website. I'm not aware of any which haven't been reported on this board though.
  • So in both my mums and wifes situation the application failed. They did not receive any notification what so ever, the agents just said that there isnt anything showing in the system. For my wife we now initiated the switch again and were told it should complete on the 17th of Jan. My mums is due to complete on the 20th of Jan. If either dont complete in time and miss out with the deal, they will lodge a complain with Coop. Either really terrible systems or it was done on purpose. Either way, lets hope its smooth sailing for now.

I don't think any of the switches I was involved in paid out when a form was submitted before the switch date. the first 2 had incorrect dates due to bank holidays, once resubmitted they went through and I understand that, but the 3rd had the correct date (9th) and it's still not paid out. will likely get the person I referred to submit again

I replied to their secure message to inform them that I had phoned and set up the switch again this time to start on 9th Jan for completion on 17th (I thought it best to put it in writing). Had a secure message reply to this confirming the switch had been set up.
However... No letter has been received confirming this switch date. No text has been received when the switch started. No payees have been transferred across yet.
To no great surprise, what we have received are emails rejecting the refer a friend claim due to the switch not being made but invited to make changes to the form and resubmit.
Hopefully the switch may just happen on 17th and I can resubmit the form but I doubt it's going to be that easy.

    Just received this:

    Dear Sir/Madam

Thank you for choosing to switch your account to The Co-operative Bank.

Due to a technical issue we have identified that your switch did not go through as expected. We have now been able to submit your switch to start 16/01/23.

Sincere apologies for this, but rest assured, you can still use your old account as normal and all payments will be made as normal from your old account until your new switch date.

Thank you for your patience in this matter.  We will continue to honour Refer a Friend payments for successful switches due to this issue.

    Kind regards,
    The Co-operative Bank

  • Do you need to activate your coop card before switching out?

Do you need to activate your coop card before switching out?

I don't believe the card needs you to activate it before use or switching out. I always use a cash machine to change the pin on new cards which also confirms that the card is already activated.
If you want to use the card for online shopping then the note on the card says that you need to call them to get a Verified by Visa password.
