            My niece's switch to Co-op has failed because it has apparently been declined by her current bank, Starling!
Didn't think banks could stop you from switching away, but maybe there is more to the tale than my niece is letting on.
Overdraft perhaps?

Usually down to incorrect or mismatched details - like the debit card number, name in a different format on the two accounts, or an overdraft. If all the personal details are correct and the same on both accounts and the debit card number has been entered correctly I can't see why a bank might refuse a switch.wiseonesomeofthetime said:My niece's switch to Co-op has failed because it has apparently been declined by her current bank, Starling!

Co-op will accept switches without a debit card tooEd-1 said:

But not if you put in a debit card number when the card hasn't been activatedadamp87 said:

Either that or some sort of fraud block is acting on the account. You can't switch a frozen current account.gsmh said:

Interesting observation. My Co-op debit card is the only one I've received in the past few years that needed to be activated by phone (and therefore hasn't been activated). Is the suggestion that when I come to switch out of Co-op, it may be better to leave the debit card details blank rather than enter details of the unactivated card?Ed-1 said:

Think that's only to use the card for online shopping, registering a Verified by Visa password? That's what it says on my cardmasonic said:

Mrs B had the same issues as me (my initial error!) but finally got her switch started.blindman said:Well I never.
After their total incompetence at getting this switch done-I started it on 20th November. I got an email at 16:00 today saying it was complete ( was due 15th Dec).
Then at 16:20 today saying I'd been paid.
Just checked I've just been paid £125.
I filled out the referal forms asap as we would be away from home when it was due (29th Dec).
Glad to say we both got the £125 notification today.
So eventually it all came goo.
Note to self. Must double check which bank account I am switching from (I have a few -as I suspect most have on here
 )
