What a few days it has been.

Friday, daughter and I managed to get a good way through the burn pile - one more day should do it now. But then we heard from the estate agent, and the viewer didn't want to proceed, so that was heart-breaking. BUT I've decided to be positive - if it had gone ahead, I would have paid more in commission to the estate agent, and it would have taken a lot longer for us to move.
Saturday, Mr Motorbike came to view, and told the estate agent he had ordered searches etc on the property already, so at least that looks to be moving ahead. His only questions were who supplied our broadband and electricity. The circus was amazing and I'm pretty sure we made a core memory. My favourite acts were the fire dancer and the wheel of death. Absolutely so much fun and I'm so glad we went. The walk back to town from the showground was brutal though, 3 miles in my least sturdy birkenstocks left my feet on fire.
Sunday, we had a lazy day, and watched HP with butterbeer and toffee popcorn. I treated myself to an afternoon nap and it was glorious. I didn't manage to sort the Vinted things, but I read my book, did all the washing, pegged it on the line, and cleaned the minimal mess that had been made over the last three days. It really got me thinking about how much time I spend doing things for other people, and how little time I spend doing things for me. When husband got back on Monday, I told him I didn't really miss him because it was so nice to have time to myself and just do what I wanted to do instead of running around after everyone else all the time.

Then yesterday afternoon my big dog had a seizure. He was really deeply unwell, and the consensus is he ate something poisonous. He threw up after I massaged his stomach and I spent a few hours feeding him water with a calpol syringe. Ended up sleeping on the sofa with him all night because I was so sickeningly worried about him. I did ring the vets, but it was a £240 call out fee because it was bank holiday, and frankly I just didn't have the money, which has made me even more determined to get an emergency fund in place. Luckily he is much better this morning, but I am utterly exhausted.

Will come back later and post budgetary workups. Set up all my categories on Monzo and have done well so far (ahahaha, it's only 4 days in, who am I kidding) aside from the holiday category that has absolutely tanked thanks to the menfolk overspending. Husband LOST HIS WALLET at the festival, and when it was handed in to lost property all the cards were blocked. *sigh* I managed to get £280 back out of the £550 I sent them - I had to send more as the only person with access to signal and his bank card was my stepson! Absolutely ridiculous, and husband will not be going on something like that again without lots of foreplanning, saving and budgeting. I'm going to have to get my tough mudder tickets refunded, which will put £120 back in the pot as I have only £10.99 at the moment until... the 27th June if I don't get any other money in. At least all the bills will be paid.

I hope your dog is better soon.
I wonder if husband would have been so careless if it was his own hard earned money he was loosing? It must feel like having an extra child. He definitely should not go on anything like that again until he is paying his fair share into the family pot and can still afford to go on his (equal to yours) spending money.
The circus and HP days sounded amazing 🤩

Your husband MUST know how little money there is, yet allowed a major overspend to occur.

Glad you had a lovely time with your daughter and hope it gave you some resolve as to what your life should/could be like with a fairer set up.

    Hope the pooch it better

I am glad you had a good weekend with your daughter making lovely memories, and a house that stayed tidied.  Some lovely memories.  Funny that you didn't miss OH and when he did return it was with problems.  It really is easier without them sometimes

£550! I’m so out of touch. Are the beers at festivals gold plated?
