Ah! All makes sense xBuffythedebtslayer said:Willowtree222 said:It’s hard to balance money in the bank and debt. I struggle with that too but then spend the money in the bank on things I shouldn’t spend money in the bank on! 😂 so it would have been better to pay the debt off with.Hope work figures itself out. If everyone is going through it, then why are you sure they’re going to push you out?Try to relax this weekend. X
I am old and expensive. Also not willing to flog myself to death or suck up to leadership plus am openly a union member.

Probably about two years - but then they can advertise at a lower rate, you don't need any experience or in some cases knowledge to hold a position of responsibility in a school - it means the leadership (facing their own problems and a limited bunch of people who will do the job for what amounts to 50p extra) can pile alllll sorts of extra little things that belong to you.... and you having maybe done a year don't know any different so crack on and kill yourself getting all done for the principle reason of making the leadership look good. All whilst supporting an array of children many of whom in shocking situations. To be fair my actual head is doing his best not to support the serious crap but there are only 3 members of staff over 40 and a handful over 30 - I am not saying the staff are useless - the absolute opposite, they are bloody good, kind, enthusiastic but I can see people now - three months in breaking, staff illness is a big problem, and people look haggard and stressed - not a way to spend the wonderful years of your 20s. And in my view the job creates this. I know people will say we all need to shut up and get on with it but I do wonder as well as adults having this stress children are far from stupid. They pick up on it and I still believe we do an important job but it is not a happy profession.DawnW said:Buffythedebtslayer said:

I feel like things are better in Scotland tho? And for all I know it could be different across the country, I have only worked in the south and that is the culture. My friend came back from teaching aboard and moved to Scotland and she loves it. So I think B might be alright XXXXbeanielou said:Blimey, B will be a union member!Nevertheless she persisted.3 -
I’m in the North West and it’s the same as you’re describing here xBuffythedebtslayer said:

My sister also worked in the NW & retired before she was 50 for exactly the sort of reasons you are saying & that was over 20 years ago. The more things change the more they stay the same. It doesn't always pay to be good at your job because you just get landed with all the ****.

I feel for you Buffy. My husband retired early from teaching after 25 years because of all the stress and stuff like that you are dealing with. Education lost an outstanding teacher but our family gained back dad and husband. We actually see more of him now he’s in an ordinary managerial job than when he was a senior leader.4

Everyone I know who has left teaching has never regretted it for a moment. Life is so much better for them.
I have opened the Christmas Baileys. Feel a lot better post nap/dinner and watched a film. I know Mum is never going to be easy to look after but today was hard. Trying to let everything wash over you gets tough.
oops thought I posted this ages ago!

Woke up feeling rough again much like yesterday. Totally overwhelmed with what to do. The kitchen door out to the conservatory is broken - it has dropped and has been adjusted 3 times by a locksmith but now cannot be adjusted again. As it doesn't shut it lets all the heat out out of the house and mum is now constantly cold. plus will be costing a fortune. The temp has dropped a lot this week and even I am feeling the cold!!!
I don't actually know who to get in to fix it but I am thinking that it makes the conservatory the priority. I had been going back and forth over rebonding the rabbits but checked the trio, no injuries and do all eat together, so I think they are ok. my room is a disaster but will remain so as Mum doesn't get up early on the weekends (fair play to her) so I can't empty my stuff out to move the furniture round and today I have to cook a lot so won't have time once she is up.
10 am and foggy here. Utterly Miserable!! Not a hope of the tree until the conservatory is straight....
So MSE peeps who fixes !!!!!! PVC doors?Nevertheless she persisted.3
