Tis Friday, always a huge relief. Today at work I had a lot of support from my colleagues. I am lucky to work with good people. Tidied up my room and left as quickly as I could. Stopped at the chemist and the chippy on the way home. Want to get up early tomorrow and go to a DIY shop and get some stuff to winterize the rabbit house. and buy a broom..
Tonight I did some Christmas shopping and worked out what I am getting everyone. Bit stuck on my sister. Any ideas?
after I have sorted the rabbits I will move on to the fish! I think a day outside in the cold will do me good.
Take care all XXXXXNevertheless she persisted.4 -
It was 12 degrees in the house at 5am this morning, seems to be the norm here at the moment. We've have the heating on for an hour first thing, set to 16 but it doesn't quite get there from 12 but my sweet spot is now 15 degrees. I've always been a cold lover and hate the all round feeling of central heating but know how much your mum needs it and you'll have acclimatised to it too. Can you get your mum and electric blanket/throw to her feel a bit warmer when she's sitting on the sofa?
As for your sister for her birthday, what about some of the lovely "turtle gloves" wrist warmers? I know lots of people rave about them. I make my own and wear a pair nearly 24/7, something about have warm wrists and knuckles that mean my fingers are never cold.2 -
What does your sister like? Could you do her a pamper hamper? Either make one up with various bits in it or order one from somewhere like Etsy? I ordered one for my DIL one year with things like socks, chocolate, face pack, hand cream, that sort of thing. She loved it.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

Sorry to read about the work stresses. Have always thought that teaching is the best job in the world but it sure does take every ounce of energy and brain space.

Ok it is 18 degrees! this is unheard of in this house.
I REALLY don't remember the house EVER being cold before. I am going to have to bleed the radiators and see if that makes a difference. I have semi fixed the back door. But it feels so drafty.
It is tricky with my sister, she buys herself everything she wants and doesn't really do much pampering - least not that she talks about.
Jelly Totts - Great minds! I am getting mum an electric throw- if it ever shows up, it is a Royal Mail delivery.... late and I can't track it....
I am too cold to sit here so am going to get on - the whole up early thing didn't happen obviously!

If our house got to 18c I would think it was summer....lol. Most of ours is warmer than that, but the lounge rarely gets above about 15 in the winter unless we put the gas fire on. Roll on spring is all I can say. Stay warmMaking the debt go down and savings go up

Sorry you’ve had such a rubbish time at work. It’s just not fair to put people under such pressure. It really is so cold - if you’re feeling it I bet your mum is. The electric blanket sounds a great idea.As for your sister does she read?….books or a magazine subscription?I’m struggling what to get my ds. Like your sister if he wants anything he just goes out and gets it. We were saying we can’t even fall back on cds or dvds now as everything is streamed. 😳😏👍Take care of yourself.January spends - £587.582

Hello Folks,
Mum had a fall on Saturday - I had been out about for about 20 minutes and my lovely friend had to drive me home and miss some of the football. I am lucky to have such good friends, especially her. Long boring story short, she has broken her hip and is in hospital - already up on it and doing ok, hospitals are grim places. The biggest thing I realised is that my friends are very supportive and practical. I don't know how people survive without good friends.
No real clue when Mum will come home but hopefully I will get a call tomorrow to discuss what is going on. It is scary. She looks so fragile. Never really been the same since covid.
anyhow work have been crap. enuff said there!
and it is costing a fortune in cabs, parking and what not!
Nevertheless she persisted.7
