Deactivate smart readings

Yes - old analogue meters required TWO readings. For a single rate tariff, the supplier would add the two index reading differences together.eastcorkram said:
I will look at this over the next day or two. But any guide to reading the meter does seem to say use the figure shown on the IMPRT screen, which is what I've been using.MWT said:
Then please check the R1/R2 readings to see if they are both going up from day to day or just one of them and you will be one step closer to getting the real answer to your concern...eastcorkram said:@MWT
We've never changed supplier since moving in 12 years ago.
Though I guess it got moved automatically from Eon to Eonnext, but I don't remember when that happened.
Back when we were on day and night rates, when I was inputting readings online, there were two boxes to put the day and night readings. Now on a single rate, there is only one .
On a smart meter, when you move for a dual rate tariff to a single rate, the supplier effectively turns off the second register so you go from R1 and R2 to just R1. You are providing the wrong reading and I am not sure what you are attempting to confuse the system when you have a working smart meter system. Just let it do its own thing and STOP giving the supplier manual readings.
The supplier isn't using the total reading because it restricts your ability to go back to E7 (without a lot of billing changes) should you choose to do so. By using the R1 for a single rate tariff, it just wakens up the R2 register again if you switch back to E7 or some other peak/offpeak tariff. Stop thinking how it was in the non smart meter days.1 -
That all makes perfect sense, BUT, they ask/tell me to provide readings![Deleted User] said:

On the account page, it states
We are having problems getting readings from your meter. We will let you know when to send one.
They then, around once a month, ask for it.
I send it . The statement gets created. Then, and only then, a smart reading suddenly appears on the account at the lower figure.
Then nothing happens until they ask for a reading
If I could figure out how to get those R1 and 2 readings , I'd send the one that corresponds to the smart reading.
But I can't find that. Just been looking . Get into the menu system, but don't know where to go from there
All the online guides, seem to show meters which are different to this one. Have coloured buttons or A and B buttons etc.0 -
What is the make and model of your smart meter? When was it installed?
If smart meter readings are appearing on your statement then ignore all requests for meter readings. This is just a billing system glitch. If the readings are annotated 'E', then there is an issue.0 -
The smart readings only ever appear, once a month, AFTER I send the reading which they asked for.[Deleted User] said:What is the make and model of your smart meter? When was it installed?

When it was installed, the guy said to me, don't send any readings. It's all collected automatically.
Six months later, they asked for a reading via email. I logged on, there had been no readings collected at all in the first six months after installation. So, input the reading into the account. Then a day or two later, a smart reading appears.
If I send nothing, then nothing happens on the meter reading history. It's as though me sending a manual reading somehow wakes up the smart aspect.

our smart meter with ovo says the same from a few days after our bill is generated to right before the end of our billing month. because our smart meter is set up to only send readings once a month but the system seems to expect everyone to be on the everyday update option. that doesn't mean the smart meter is broken or the system is wrong.eastcorkram said:

i would say to try again ignoring the request and see if it sends something automatically at the right time.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

As per the guide that I posted earlier:
To take two rate meter readings from your EDMI SMETS2 electricity meter:
- Hold OK until it enters the ‘Main Menu’, you will see ‘Billing’ appear
- Hold OK to enter the ‘Billing’ sub-menu
- Using the arrows, scroll to ‘Advancd’ (2 pushes of the > button)
- Hold OK to enter the ‘Advanced’ sub-menu, you will see ‘TOUmtrx’ appear
- Hold OK to enter the ‘TOUmatrx’ sub-menu, you will see ‘RATE1’ appear
- Use the arrows to cycle the rates you need to submit (Rate 1, Rate 2, …)

Check your energy account online and see if you can update to 30 minute readings as it might be on monthly.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

Just logged in and it's already set to 30 minutes, so I've left it alone.Alnat1 said:Check your energy account online and see if you can update to 30 minute readings as it might be on monthly.
My meter reading history only shows the one I send, and one smart , per month. Didn't even show the one the meter reader took. There are never any estimated readings.
For anyone on 30 minute readings, if you log into the online account and view readings, do you actually see 48 readings for each day?1 -
I'm with Octopus on TOU electric tariffs and my bill does show a page for each day during the billing period with 48 sections, showing the usage and cost for each 30 minutes. This is repeated for exported electricity as I have solar PV.
My gas TOU is a set rate per 24 hours, so the bill has lines for each day of the month.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

It doesn’t work like that. For customers on a 30 minute profile, the supplier makes a data ‘pull’ once every 24 hours. The meters return an index reading and a XML file. The XML file contains 48 segments containing 30 minute usage data in kWh. For its T-o-U tariffs, Octopus uses the XML data for billing.eastcorkram said:

E.oN Next uses the Octopus Kraken billing platform but it is up to the supplier to decide whether it will provide detailed usage data. Apps like BRIGHT fill the data gap. If you are billed once a month, then your account will usually show just a single smart reading that has been used for billing.
This is from my Octopus Account. The meter readings are advisory. The annotations are incorrect: my meter records offpeak on R1 and peak on R2.
