That is exactly what the EF is for. Hope maybe this has served as a lesson to your wife, to see how it would have played out if you'd used CC and not EF.

Aww, it's infuriating when precious emergency funds have to be used, but that's what they're there for & you didn't resort to using somebody else's money, which is what putting it on a credit card would have been. That is progress in both your mindset & in stabilising your debt levels.

At least it hasn't gone on the credit card. Glad things are better at home.  Maybe your wife just needed time to adjust to the new way of thinking about money and spending.

    Hi everyone

    My never ending luck continues.

The few quid I've scraped together for emergency fund has just bene blown away as windscreen wipers failed and the new part (mechanism) Inc fitting has cost me £220.

    Oh the joys
I can understand how that would feel like a step back, but as the others have said, it actually shows that the system you've got is working. Yes, it will be great when your emergency fund is a size that you'll still have a decent amount left after something happens, but it'd still take a hit and have to be built back up.

NB, If it keeps being eaten up, it might be a sign that you aren't budgeting enough for everyday issues, so might need to increase savings for those (I know your budget is tight, just bear it in mind if there's an opportunity)

Hopefully wife will be more on board now as it would have been embarrassing and a shock to realise she couldn’t get the shopping as usual.
I know the car expense is rubbish BUT the funds were there!
    Keep on going on 🌼

  • Hi guys just checking in.

    1. Shawbrook have said not only will they give me breathing space but would accept a token payment 👍.

    2. No other accounts have defaulted yet - shows how bullied you are made to feel if your late with a payment whne it's of minimal consequence

    3. Anti ds r at least helping me sleep better and deal with the home stress.

    That's the positive.

The negative is that my emergency fund is spent out.

Literally the day after having the wipers fixed a big stone flew up driving and smashed my windscreen. Which was another £75.

Then... The very next day after same. Thing happened to my 8 seater which has its mot due beginning of April.

Sometimes you do feel the world is against you!

  • Just had a letter from sainsburys saying debt had been past to

    Past due collections

    Anyone know this company.

Do I now write to these guys?
