ordered 3 parcels through ppwexpress. 2 last night and one this morning. Guy came to pick up all three at 11.30.
Very impressed and very good service, though I was a bit miffed at the prices they charge, as all 3 deliveries stated "DHL Next Day" although one was going to a business address (£5.50) and the other two were residential addresses (£5.95 for 97% chance of getting their next day) so as all services are next day I'm happy.
I used parceltree before the weekend and on the recipt it stated "DHL@Home" which I thought strange.
But I'm happy so I think ppwexpress have got my custom so long as they dont increase prices too much. Nice to be able to log in and see all the past parcels and keep your details (for collection)Student Moneysaving Expert :beer:0 -
Many couriers have size limits of around 1.5m in any direction. This caused us problems as we sell beds and mattresses on line. When we first started trading we used postvan.com (who now appear to have ceased trading). They are one on the middleman companies who use a number of larger couriers. Due to their large contacts with the couriers they managed to get around the size restrictions. However the couriers were useless:
- They collected a few mattresses from the factory with the addresses already on the packaging. They would then stick the wrong address labels on them.
- Obviously due to the above they used to deliver some mattresses to the wrong address.
- They sometimes used to lose mattresses.
- They quite often damaged the mattresses.
So we got so fed up that we bought our own van and started to deliver our own goods, and also offer a delivery service for large bulky items to other ebayers. However we still had to use couriers for deliveries way off our routes. So as we had been told that Nightfreight were the best of a bad bunch we started using them.........BIG MISTAKE!!!!!! They managed to damage 3 out of 7 mattresses in one consignment, and when you try and claim you hit a brick wall even though it was obvious that 2 of the mattresses had been deliberately slashed with a sharp knife.
So we then tried another company who actually specaialise in furniture deliveries. On the first consignment of 3 mattresses they managed to damage one. Then when we tried to claim they actually got quite nasty about it saying that they don't damage goods.
So unless anyone knows of a very reliable courier company who have two drivers to carry large items, and won't damage them, then we will have to continue to lose money on deliveries to the Highlands and the West Country0 -
ppwexpress will do next day business for £5.50 with £100 insurance. I need cover for £150, and £1 extra takes the cover up to £500. Sold!
Only thing is, there appears to be no way of specifying extra cover on their online order form.
Shame. Looks like I'll have to go elsewhere.Wearing my other one today.0 -

Woo will have to try them some time soon as I prefer Royal Mail over DHL although with my past 4/5 parcels I haven't had any problems...

PPP starting to !!!!le me off, they put there prices up significantly just as we start sending 50 a week, lisa said she will get back to me with an offer but she didn't seem too interested and fact she said 'i'll have to have a chat with our directors' when she is the one and only director goes together with their other mythical I.T department! Its all so easy to see through!
Anyone know how many parcels you need to be sending to get a decent rate direct with a courier? We'll soon be sending up to 70 a week.0 -

Oh no! I wonder if they processed the booking I made last night
Anybody know an email address for them?Steve0 -
Sorry no, I was only going to use them for the first time as a customer had requested parcelforce 24hr.
From past experiances with 'come & go' courier agents I would be surprised if its booked.0
