They can only charge you if the meter is found to be accurate.
Seems the common sense thing to do but they did say I'd have to pay upfront but would be refunded if the old meter proves to be faulty.

While I'm here, today's reading is 5.73, so just short of 7 units registered on the new meter over 17 days.

For comparison, the readings for one random week in October on the old meter equated to 17 units.

so that's averaging something like 4.6kwh a day (7*11.5/17). not bad and i'd think well below the 'national average' even for such a mild time of year.

we use about half the 'national average' annually and have been using an average of 14kwh a day this last month.
Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.

a made up number by ofgem thats handy to use for benchmarking and was used as the basis for the headline saving figures on the energy price guarentee ;)

That was my summer usage for heating hot water and occasional cooking on the stove.
  • Tomorrow makes it 4 weeks since the meter swap. Since then I've been averaging 0.5 units a day.

I don't hold out too much hope that I'll hear anything straight away so have pre-emptively emailed Bulb asking what the next steps are whatever the result of the test.

No reply to that yet, of course...
  • I’ve not been following this thread fully, but was your gas meter sent off for an ofmat test with SGS. If so you’ll get a copy of the test certificate at the same time as Bulb.

Is SGS Siemens? If so, yep that's right.

I am pretty sure that SGS has no link to Siemens.

My mistake - the fella who did the swap was in a Siemens van! He thought he was coming to do a pressure test but after much discussion with HQ ended up taking the meter away.

No idea where the meter's been taken to.
