NST OCTOBER 2022: Autumn Leaves and Sloe Berries

Still on NSD#1. Sttuggling to avoid small daily spends spoiling any increase.
Went to buy new slippers for hospital later this month. The 5's were too tight and despite trying 6 and 7 they got longer but not looser! Still got another week to find some.
Considered buying a heated throw but might make do with a normal throw and hot water bottle. My friend told me if you sit on a throw on your sofa and put another one over you it keeps the heat in. Tried it today and it really does work.
Offered DS some saucepans. I'll drop them off over the weekend, so that's 4 more items leaving. Hopefully the jam jars will have been collected by the time i get home.
Doc rang yesterday with xray results. Severe degeneration of thumb joint and wrist bones so he's prescribed some cream and i have to book physio.
Gratitudes: progress on my thumb/wrist, a nice sunny walk along the river to get some exercise, some acorn 'hats' to take home for crafting, a nice chat with an elderly couple who were very interesting and funny.

Today I am grateful for getting through a non-stop 8 hours at work, for lovely pupils, for flowing traffic, for dc going bouldering this evening and seeing their favourite instructor there, for the weekend.

Gratitudes - it's Friday!, snuggly blankets, cups of tea.
Dropped 3 large bags of stuff off at the CS today (not all mine - some was my mum's) Also had an unexpected flebay sale today, so that's parcelled up ready to drop off at the parcel shop tomorrow

Had a quiet breakfast & read my book after doing a few stretching exercises. Joined DB & co after they'd eaten theirs. DB's birthday today. We walked to the amusement park, but it was quite expensive, so instead we looked round some shops then headed to a playpark. The kids had great fun,& me & DB even went on swings too! Had dinner together, then I headed to my room for a while. Joined them again just before tea, had a takeaway pizza with the kids whilst DB & SiL went out for a meal. Phoned DH when back in my room & watched TV. My mum & DS1 will be heading to the boat shortly, ready to travel the 8 hours to join us. Have heard the sea is quite rough today, so not a pleasant journey...
Grateful for a sunny day, playpark laughter, going on a swing, finding my favourite salt & vinegar shapes in a shop after not seeing any for a year! 😋Use it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

I managed to get 2 loads of laundry nearly dry on the line before the rains came, and Boy did it chuck it down! The windscreen wipers had to be on fullest pelt. Still, the rest of the laundry dried in less than 20 minutes in the dryer. One wet load left in the washer ready for the line tomorrow morning - forecast is good.Pea and (not)bacon soup for tea tonight - there was some dissent, but they all ate it, some with more grace than others. It was lovely, so they can just be quiet
it is soup season, and they need to accept it.
If you can get out tomorrow, please try and do so, there are some impressive piles of yellow leaves and they might even be crispy by afternoon. Check if there is a botanical garden near you, or an arboretum - we have a few, one is on Shady Lane, which always gives me a giggle, there are a couple of University ones as well. The squirrels in them tend to be much friendlier than 'normal squirrels', a pocket full of monkey nuts can make for some good cheap entertainment - extra bonus points if you can get a squirrel to take one from your hand. I might well go squirrel hunting tomorrow - DH will even come if it involves a peanut trap. It works on 'park squirrels' too - the best 'municipal' results I had were in a park in the centre of Chester while DH did a half marathon some years ago. It was all going well until one of the kids gave a squirrel a licorice torpedo instead of a peanut, and then it all went Pete Tong. Not as wrong as the time they gave a wandering goat a pickled onion, somewhere between Edale and Castleton, though. My kids will never be able to say I never took them anywhere... now I can't get the swines to leave the house.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Outside - 2 dog walks in the rain doubled my planned step count. Tomorrow I’m going to jump the waves in the sea. Don’t care how cold it is.
Inside - We’re away in a lovely luxury caravan on the north wales coast. Very cosy & restful, and we have the heating on.
Fun - Had a pint in the bar before settling in.
Food / alcohol - Pizza (from t£sco so not expensive) & Prosecco so not healthy but easy, cheap & indulgent.
Read - No, but played lots of chess with DS.
Plan for December - Nothing for today.
NSD - Yes! So 5/15. DH bought the round at the bar.
MSE - Buying pizza from supermarket instead of expensive takeaway
Gratitude - cozy caravan & stormy weather. Time to chill with my favourites.

Sounds lovely BBK, enjoy your late summer holiday, jump those waves and I have ordered wall to wall sunshine for you today, so dont forget the sun cream.I have already baked 4 sheets of Twink's hobnobs and 10 date and walnut scones. Supper is part baked baguettes and salad and whatever slices are left in the fridge (late kick off football match on tv). Lunch is h/m hummus, salad, and crackers- I simply cannot be faffed with it all after the baking this morning, 3 loads of laundry on the line before 11am and the kids have been told to strip and remake their beds, and tidy their rooms. So I am feeling very calm and in control.Sunshine for all today, so enjoy it, and the warmth, for soon it will all be just a sweet memory. Even if it just involves a cup of tea in the garden/yard/on the 14th floor next to an open window, get in your vit.D, air your house, and value yourself, and your health (or whatever bits of health you have left). You should be your own first priority. Try not to worry until something actually happens.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Got back home at lunchtime to disaster. The fridge/freezer had malfunctioned whilst we were away and everything had defrosted. Couldn't save anything as I had no idea when it happened but I suspect it was a while ago. Just have to accept it and hope that the insurance will cover the contents. I've been telling Himself for ages that we needed a new one but he said it had years of life in it yet. Typical man.
So lots to do but I think I'll just sit down, take a deep breath and start again tomorrow.
Might just have a takeaway for dinner.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.10 -
