GEUK newbie customers - What are you doing?

  • I am staying put as well.

  • I still had no emails so called and they said they had technical issues which some other has had so they will fix and send email today
  • Just a thought for other GE customers on E7 who might be putting in readings today - if going through the app then check it hasn’t done what it has for us and transposed the day and night readings…GE are aware about this as an issue and are meant to be fixing it. I suspect in our case it’s because we used the “scan meter” option to input the first lot of readings we gave - our R1 is night and R2 day rather than the other way round and I suspect this has thrown things out, so chances are it might not affect most folk.

I, too, am staying (& for a couple of reasons).
However, I fully understand EssexHebridean's decision to move & were I in his place would probably do the same.

So, for what it's worth, I'm going to stick with GEUK.

I'm paying a very small amount (about 2p a day) extra on the standing charges now vs the EPG.
BUT, staying with them does come with the extra safety net that if the EPG goes up in January I will still have the fix rates I signed for up locked in as a maximum.

    I'm happy with that arrangement.
I was talking to GEUK today and they said if government were to put prices up between now and the end of the fixed tariff then so will those on fixed rate tariffs. If the rises were to go above what the fixed rates that we signed up to were, it won't go above it in that period. That does diminish the value of being on the price fix somewhat, compared to being on the SVR. As the difference between the two for me is so small per month, over a 12 month period, I am staying put for now.
  • Am not happy.
Still no email. And now they closed.
I may call octopus Monday to see if they will accept a transfer. This is not on. Told them Wednesday about no email and then again yesterday and again today.

Did you check the spam folder? I received something on Wednesday, happy overall.

SC 3p more expensive than EPG for gas, 10p cheaper for electricity.

I got the email about an hour ago, after their office was closed. Email can be immediate, but does often take a while to arrive.

The much lower standing charge almost makes up for the higher unit price

Ended up getting it at 8pm
Electric unit is same as London EPG and SC is 3p less
Although IHD is showing standard sparkling fixed rate.
