My gas standing charge on my fixed rate tariff until September 2023 is 31.31p
My standing charge on the energy price guarantee would be 28.94p.
I have been emailing them to change it to 28.94p but no luck so far. Is everyone else in the same boat with the standing charges remaining unchanged?

The EPG didn't change standing charges on fixed tariffs.

I am willing to pay (less than) 3p per day more given that these are green tariffs as well.
  • I am getting alittle frustrated with with GEUK, I've not been notified about ky rates yet, seems like a phone call today. So many niggly things going on with my account and just getting tiresome always having to do a.little something every week or so.
  • On our Sparkling tariff the SC was lower than the current standard one for our region anyway, and they weren’t planning to change that as far as I recall?

The EPG didn't change standing charges on fixed tariffs.

On what grounds?  The standing charges are part of that much touted £2500/yr, it seems obvious that they would be regulated, or at least that the per-unit cost should be lower if the standing charge is higher.
On the grounds that the EPG applied to fixed tariffs by providing a 17p discount on electricity unit rates and 4.2p discount on gas unit rates.  The £2500 did not apply to fixed tariffs.

For the SVT, the EPG specifically stated that the new capped values for standing charges would be the original OFGEM October cap values.

I noticed just now this at the bottom of their email that was sent...

"It is important to stress that it is the unit rates that are capped, not the annual bill and that the £2,500 cap referred to in Government and press statements, relates to an average dual fuel household with an annual consumption of 2900 units of electricity and 12,500 units of gas."

I am assuming they are confirming, in their own words, that their unit rates are in line, and they can do what they like with the standing charges on fixed rate tariffs.

  • I'm on Sparkling v6 London region, which I signed up in July. I've received the email from GEUK on Wednesday and the 1st October Standing Charges are the same as what they are charging me now. The electricity unit has been reduced by 4.31p and gas by 1.19.
I've decided that I am going to stick with them for now
  • I believe it is Good Energy who have already confirmed prices that are above the EPG?
Good Energy tariffs can be found here --> https://www.goodenergy.co.uk/tariff-information-labels/

They appear to be applying the EPG discount on their upcoming tariffs.
