  • @EllDoubleU, your case has a great distance to run.

Tacking all your troubles on to an existing thread is not a good idea.
That sounds ominous! So my summer is doomed to be playing legal tennis, what a nightmare!
Thanks for your advice though. I will repost on a new thread.

I will stand corrected on this but I think that Euro Car Parks are a PPC that go for the low hanging fruit (drivers who just pay up). So you may just get letters from debt collectors which you just file. When you receive a letter before claim you will need to take some action. They do have up to six years to make a claim so ensure that your details are updated with the DVLA and V5C if you change your address.

    Nolite te bast--des carborundorum.
  • So this has just arrived. Is this a letter before claim?

    No.

Read para #3 of this document and check that everything it requires is in a real letter of claim.

    https://www.justice.gov.uk/courts/procedure-rules/civil/pdf/protocols/debt-pap.pdf

That letter is not even from a solicitor or a claimant. It is just one more of the useless bits of paper used by powerless debt collectors to try and scare gullible victims into paying up. It was all covered in the Newbies/FAQ thread which would be another useful read at this time.

But we never want new threads about these letters. Please spare us!

Read the 4th post of the NEWBIES thread where I positively beg for no new threads about such letters.  It is all covered there already.

  • Yep, sorry for posting. I should know better - it's was a PPP (proper panic post)

On searching I found examples of this exact letter and how to respond.

Not to self and anyone else - READ THE NEWBIES THREAD. DO NOT PANIC POST!

    Hi guys,

I think ther months ago I posted the fact I got a fine at eurocar parks.
I ALWAYS pay for my tickets. What happened this time is that I pay for 2 hours and by error I ended up overstaying by 20 minutes.

Eurocarparks send the fine notice to my old address as I didnt change the V5c document to my new address when I bough yhe house, so my first notification was from a law company. I have been reviewing your posts and what I did was asked pictures and data that eurocarparks had about me and they sent those over. Over the course of the months I have been receiving letters and have been ignoring them as the advise in here states. However, I just received a letter stating that I am going to be taken to court. The letter is from CST law and the tittle of the letter is called letter before claim. In this letter, there is a reply form that states, whether I agree thatowe the debt or some of it, whether I will pay now or later, whether I need debt advice etc.

At this point, I just want to fight the injustice, specially in this cost of living crisis. I have always used eurocapartks and always pay for tickets but 170 pounds for overstaying mistakenly for 20 minutes, is a con. Can anyone please offer advice?

I am thinking of stating that I owe some of the debt but not all of it and explain the reasoning for this. Help please!!

you should continue on that one rather than start a new one as it could lead to confusion.
