  • I haven't wrapped one Xmas present yet - which is so not me!

Just done our frugal Christmas hampers for work - quite pleased with it - including delivery the hampers come in at £19 each. They look fab!

I am quite chuffed also that I only spend £103 on Christmas presents for 8 adults and 2 kids! And I am truly happy with every gift I bought!
  • Sorry DG...the one I got was from Aldi. I think it was £2.99.

Well, finally found time to sit down on here with a cuppa before DH comes home.Stew is ready for re-heating so a very easy dinner. I have finished all downstairs now, including all the extra Christmas decorations - in the hall and the dining room. It's actually looking and feeling like Christmas and I'm so glad I stuck it out today and kept hard at it. have to tackle upstairs tomorrow - but that's another day. I even managed to wrap a few more presents up and do the ironing - excuse me, I think that's my halo slipping!

I still haveto clean the oven this week (groan!) and the fridges, ice the Christmas cake and write a proper plan for meals over the holiday. My SIL is coming to visit on Sunday - it's the day I pick my Mum up from Wiltshire so it will be another busy weekend; I keep thinking I'm going to run out of time. This is such a hard time for us girls, isn't it? So far, all my DH has done is write out four cards (under duress) and that's it. Oh, he put the lights on the tree, but that's it! I've lost sleep over everything else! Still, what's new?

Anyway, off to lay the table - see you all later.

Afternoon all, forgive me for not mentioning anyone, not had time to read the thread yet - been one of those days.

Had a great time yesterday at my parents ruby wedding do - all the food went down well so it was worth all the effort on Saturday. Today has been spent ironing, cleaning and watching DD2's nativity - feeling a bit more christmassy now.

Off to LaplandUk tomorrow evening, should be lovely, I'm determined to enjoy it despite all the bad reviews I've read.....although 3 hours in a cold forest at night isn't sounding fun at the moment. Going christmas shopping with DH and his mother tomorrow morning to buy DD's pressies, I could have ordered them all online and saved her a fortune but she wants to take us to lunch too :D

Got a chicken in the oven at the moment - will be serving it with cold mash left from the weekend and salad that needs using up - then will make a big pan of soup up to take with us tomorrow night - should warm us up nicely.

    Hope you're all well.

    Hi all

Just a quick dip in before I reheat haggis from the freezer and boil the tatties and neeps!

Mrs Mix - hope your DH OK. What a nuisance about the lorry too. Thankfully you have a witness and hope you get somewhere with the insurance folk.

Aussie - sorry to hear you have lost a relative. I am sure you are glad you saw her when over here. Hope DH is continuing to recover.

Czarina - hope your lunch goes well on Wednesday - you certainly have put a lot of effort into everything. I remember when you were in the early planning stages.

Everyone else - I have read your posts and you are wonderful! Just wish I could do the thanks during the day from work. Nice to see that our family is growing again and welcome to new folk.

Well, had to scrape the car twice today - this morning to go to work and this afternoon to come home! Now parked at the front door and tomorrow I will nip out and turn engine and blowers on 10 minutes before I have to leave.

Forgot to mention that in the midst of DGS3 totally disgracing himself with his nappy as I dished up dinner last night, when I took the Yorkies out the oven the door fell off! Decided to leave looking at it until today and guess what, DH has managed to fix it before I got home! Really relieved because I am getting a built in hob and oven when doing the kitchen in a couple of months and there was no way I was replacing the existing one at this stage!

DGS1 was a shepherd in the nursery Nativity this morning and behaved beautifully. Last year he was Joseph and stole the show by fiddling with his teatowel on his head, picking his nose and just not doing what he should! He was so funny that DD's friends still talk about it! By the way we had a conversation yesterday generally about his nursery etc. Do you know that the children have to sing Baa Baa Rainbow Sheep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How politically correct is that. Over the top methinks. Twink - what do they do at your playgroup?

Not much else happening in grannybroonland. Have local cards to write so that DH can have a stroll round delivering, a few presents to wrap, one rogue card to write to post in the morning, and just waiting for the boys' PowerRangers laser and tabard set to arrive - I have the walkie talkie helmets!

Will try and pop in later to see how you all are, hope PenPin OK as no post from her today.

    Love and hugs to all

Just need to have a mini-rant

Why the hell have we got so much stuff. I've been giving it away like crazy but DH still seems to be getting more from somewhere and while I'm at it how does a 3 yr old get 32 soft toys from. She also seems to have inherited her dads hoarding tendences and getting rid of any toys is hard work she seems to have a 6th sense so even when shes busy doing something she notices when I'm taking stuff out of the toy room.

    And breath

    Thanks for listening

Chill sweatheart - I think you are having the pre-Christmas stress! You have to be sneaky! Remember when we cleared the loft out in October? That made me realise I should have wielded a firmer hand years ago!

We still have a bit of a clutter now the DGSs but hopefully I have learned my lesson and get rid of whatever they have grown out of.

    Take care.

    PS

Right you lot, no loft jokes!!!!!!!! DH and I will be up there next weekend getting the presents down - Nothing else honest (well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).
  • Hi

JohannasMum I know what you mean. My Oh carries on shopping and is worse than a footballer's wife for things. He has 50 shirts and 37 pairs of shorts. I have suggested he recycles or sells some of it but he reckons he wears most of it! Unfortunately DS has his tendency to hoard and not recycle. Once my degree is finished will be far more ruthless. Oh for a clutter free house:p .

Plan to deliver local cards and wrap up my pressies this evening when DS is in bed :A xxxx
