Breadbun - you'll probably call a cob or a roll Dusty, breadcakes if you're from yorkshire. Stotties are big flat soft bread buns, soft but heavy, Oven Bottom Breads to some especially further south, the ones I got yesterday are as big as a dinner plate. I have bought them in Manchester, but they just don't taste the same.

Didn't realise you used to live in Durham rach, were you at Uni up here?

Must go and put the left over breads which need to be frozen in the freezer somehow.....no I didn't get round to sorting it out..
One day I might be more organised...........

  • Just finished doing all the washing up but the pans, and about to go to bed myself. Most of my running around will need to be done tomorrow or monday, as DH is working on sunday, so food shop tomorrow i think for the few bits we still need.

spent about an hour on the phone this evening to my dad and MIL. Got myself a little upset with my mother as she didn't have time to talk to me. I know she really wanted me to be having a girl, but i don't know if that is why she didn't speak to me.

DH went and did some last minute xmas shopping tonight, which is a huge improvement as it is normally xmas eve. :rotfl: it's only taken 8 years to train to this standard. ;)

He bought me a gorgeous bunch of flowers too, so they will now be our table decoration on the day. Lovely silvery sparkly bits, with cream roses and white carnations.

Slight problem that one of my play parcels that was being delivered to DH's office hasn't arrived yet, and there is no-one at the office now till after xmas. Luckily one of mum's pressies rather than a kiddley one, but she will probably sulk if not there on the day a little bit. Oh well, not like we can do a lot, other than pop across on monday to see if there is a card through the letterbox, though i bet the depot is not open. Stuff it.

Anyway, think i may write a food list now for tomorrow and then aim to be at the shop for 9ish.

    See you all tomorrow.

yes i was one of those awful students ;) i did 5 years in all as couldn't drag myself away after the first degree so i stayed for another one! i did work part time through my second one though (at national savings), and i lived in Ushaw Moor (before they built all the new houses) at that time.

((((michelle)))) my amazon parcel which is my dad's present hasn't come, am not happy as ordered on 11th dec and only dispatched today, can't imagine it's going to come tomorrow and i am going away sunday night probably. :(

You lived about 2 miles away from where I used to live then :p If you got the bus at all there would have been chance we'd have even been on the same one at some point, how spooky, DP is there now actually throwing someone out of the taxi by the sounds of it. I'll drive through there tomorrow when I am out so will wave at it from you :D Not ALL students are bad, some are plain horrid like the ones who throw up in DPs taxi, yak, but I know some lovely ones including the volunteers who help out at some things my sons go to etc. Ah you will know why I do not wish under any circumstances want to go into Durham tomorrow then. In fact, up until 4/5 years ago I worked at a lot of the graduation balls, few other bits and pieces of DJing, helping when acts like Craig Charles etc were on at the colleges, worked up there for several years doing different things.

I feel sorry for many of the Durham students, well their parents aswell, that is why we struggled so much when it comes to housing as so many expensive student lets. The volunteers who help out at my sons groups are always skint, I'm always passing tips on to them and where to find cheap things, good deals etc.

Michelle our depot was open until midday last Xmas eve, if that helps. I was there as a parcel was missing, no card through but thankfully it was there.

lol, how funny lil_me, i did get the bus sometimes, either the esh winning or new brancepeth ones, and i used to take services in the little methodist churches in all those places. i was at uni 1997-2002, lived in ushaw moor for the last two years. just on one of the terraced houses down the main road on the way to new B. takes me back, thinking of all that. rent was dirt cheap out there in those days, compared to the city especially. i do understand durham will be manic tomorrow, bad enough any saturday!

well, had a nice bath and washed my hair, then seem to have had a funny reaction to my sanctuary body lotion, i think it has happened before if i use it after the bath, no rash or anything, just feels a bit burny!!

bit fed up as OH is ill again, only finished antibiotics on wed and the illness seems to have come back already, his glands are all up again and he's really fed up as has been ill on and off for about 9 weeks :(

  • Morning ladies. And a nice cold and crisp one to boot!

Not much flying here today as we're off to see CBeebies Live, then lunch at IKEA next door. And what is usually a shortish journey is likely to take ??? hours.

But I will be doing a Pigpen impression later tonight if I can find a suitable broom to insert! Want to hoover and dust through at the very least along with disposing of Mount Washmore. Boys now off school/work so all uniforms/suits can be dealt with and hung away for two weeks.

Most importantly I'll be writing them a list of to-do's for Monday when I'm at work. It will be nice for once to not be doing those last minute bits like fill the car up, pick up milk etc. I will come home in the afternoon straight to the crib service. I will come home straight to the crib service. I will...

    Moam

    Morning all

Well so far I've been to Asda and got the last bits of food I wanted (@5.30 this morning) because there is no way I'm going near a supermarket again between now and Christmas! They had loads of clothes in the sale though so ended up buying quite a few clothes as well.

Need to start on the house now - can't see any clear surface in the kitchen, there are 2 bags of odd socks overflowing on my bedroom floor which I really need to sort out as that would probably explain why the kids have got no socks! I have presents to wrap, the whole house needs tidying and hoovering, the bathroom needs cleaning and I've got people coming for tea tomorrow. Anyone like to come and help?

Right I'd better crack on - have a good day everyone

Though I had to double check. When I got up and opened the living room curtains the sky was just like a sunset all red and golden with the rising sun. Wonder what weather we'll have today - red sky in morning, shepherd's warning etc.

Rach - hope OH gets better soon. If it's glands up and down has he been checked out for glandular fever?

Right, my remaining tasks from my long list:
    • Clean under counter kitchen cupboards
    • Wash kitchen floor
    • Clean oven
    • Clean car inside after trip to dump Was too cold after doing OUTSIDE to even contemplate inside...
    • Clean and tidy utility area
I also need to add the following jobs:
    • Rethink Christmas lunch menu
    • Possibly go out foraging for perishables
    • Wash bedding
    • Hoover lounge
    • Hand deliver local Christmas cards (dog will enjoy the walk)
    • Wrap best friend's birthday present ready for tomorrow
    • Wash throws from front room
    • Get car tyres pumped up - noticed one was quite low yesterday

    Morning

Nice to see you maralum Happy Christmas! x

It's frosty outside today brrrrrr I so can't wait for Spring lol, got some wrapping to do today (couple of bits) 1 load for the TD, and pretty much just pottering and dailies. Gonna finalise my food shopping list for Monday and the last of the xmas presents (should be fun on xmas eve) but it's pretty much just a normal food shop it'll just be the crowds and parking that will be the problem lol

    finalise shopping list
    make bed
    TD
    S&S kitchen
    quick sweep through
sort summat for tea (I'm hating cooking this week  )
    empty HW bottle
    wrap presents

I want to keep the food shop as low as possible this week so lots of cheap meals are on the cards, best buy a big bag of spuds lol

    laters x
