If you can afford to pay for it if all kids turn up, then I'd suggest you put on the invite something alongs the lines of 'all donations towards the cost of the party gratefully received' that then gives the parents an opportunity to enquire about the costs and you should recoupe most of it.

Otherwise, I'm not sure I'm afraid!

Rach - I hate dilemas like that! I always feel that the host should pay for a party so I personally would not feel happy to ask them to pay but that is a lot of money for you to pay with all the other expense you have. Could you not do something less expensive?

Half way through tidying the kitchen and a bit bored of it already - doing bits in the garage at the same time as it has reverted to a dumping ground and I need it tidy for easily getting to the spare food/fridge over Christmas and for DS1 to play darts in. OH is helping with the garage though.

DS1and2 playing basketball in the dark outside.

dusty and soappie - thanks, i had thought about putting something like that on there Soappie. it's difficult as it started really as a 'hen do' for the kids, but just happens to be on my birthday...obviously the adults will pay for their share of the hen night i have.

    any other thoughts welcome!

    Ladies,

I owe you all a great debt of gratitude

    :A you really are :A

When I started off with my long list on Monday, I really didn't think I'd get half of it done, let alone all of it and the christmas lunch shopping in to boot. My list is all but complete for a couple of minor snagging jobs which can wait until tomorrow. I am absolutely dead beat and will be putting my feet up for most of tomorrow.

For the first year ever, I am up to date with Christmas - the shopping, the cleaning etc. and I owe it all to you.

I raise my just poured and much needed G&T to you all. I hope you all have an absolutely wonderful Festive time

    I MISS STOTTIES!!!!!!!!

    :cry::cry::cry:
Another ex northerner? I can see me having to post stotties after Christmas, me and and old friend were talking about them on the phone as she now lives 'down south' and she wants them sending :rotfl: amazing what people miss when they move, I miss pies from Teeside and always buy them when I go back.

Dusty, thanks, I tried the warm oil last night as I was in tears with the pain again. My main fear at the mo is overdosing on tablets. I am considering going back to the GPs on Monday if I can get an appointment as it's started affecting my balance **so I now have a bruised bum from falling over** :o I now have a water infection too, god I hate having a naff immune system.

Rach, I really don't know what I would do, I think like Dusty I would expect to have to pay myself, what about those stuck what to get you for a wedding present, they could help with that? Maybe a donations welcome towards costs instead of wedding gift appreciated on the invites? Well worded better of course, my head isn't screwed on at the minute enough to suggest how to put it.

Oh bother, just got off the phone to the farmer/butcher, he apologised as he didn't know my order had gone out and he haddn't seperated the crown. Ok now it's even more scary. How on earth do I cook an 11lb Turkey!!!!!?????!!!!! It's never going to fit in one of my roasting bags, I'm just pleased we have a big fridge or I'd have been stuck!

Soappie, you did the hard work, we're just here to give a kick or a hug whenever it's needed.
One day I might be more organised...........

Just run for it Rach, I'm sure with a coat over noone will know the difference. I am always dashing in and out in mine :o

Now I am annoyed, binmen coming today instead of Monday, they have emptied everyones bin but mine I think, it was out next to next doors which has been emptied, will be phoning someone on Monday as round here they refuse to take the bin if you can't shut the lid and refuse extra bags, well it's tough as mine won't have been collected for over 2 weeks so they will have to!!!

Waiting for pain relief to kick in then will sort the meats out into seperate bags, there is loads of it, bag it all up into 'meal' size bags (except the topside and brisket which can stay huge) then see how much room I need to make in the freezer :o Currently there is no room.......sure it'll be fine with some reorganising.....I hope.

Lil_me you could always cut the legs/wings off your turkey then it will take up a lot less space. You could cook those in a separate bag or freeze them for later in the new year.

Sorry your ear is still hurting DS1 used to get horrible earache when he was little, I used to give him a hot water bottle to lay on.

Forgot I am supposed to be collecting a friends paper each day from the newsagent so need to dash down there.

Speedy typing here as I'm supposed to be cooking dinner...

I finally managed to get motivated yesterday, I just needed some chocolate! I have got through all the washing pile - no idea where all that lot came from.

I gave up on the idea of trying to stay up late enough to wrap the children's presents after they went to bed, and just got up early this morning and did it then! They're teenagers, so no chance of seeing them downstairs at half past seven!

A very quick trip downtown at 9am to pay some money into the bank, then over to Tesco's as it is the only place I know that sells beef sausages. I can't eat pork (food intolerance). It was completely awful in there, and I had about 20 people in front of me at the 10 items only tills. Remind me, the shops are actually closed for just one or two days aren't they?? Most people seemed to be buying enough to feed a small African country...

After lunch I collected some vegetables from the allotment, a little oasis of calm and peace, but rather cold! Then DD and I went to Sainsbury's for the fresh stuff (cream etc). All done, bar some bread and milk on Monday.

I am going to make the mince pies tomorrow afternoon, and then Christmas starts with the candle lit carol service in the evening!
