poohbear, hope DS3 is OK, and give your hubby a kick up the butt!

Wish me luck folks, i am going into the kids bedroom, and first I will take a pic! Just stripped the beds, the spare duvets have been Pulled down, toys everywhere, mess, the window is dirty, there are bits of poo still on DS2's bed.... it's.... a challenge, but the last room to be done before christmas.

Collected my butcher order and got a shock, a turkey crown is just a turkey with the legs removed. I thought it was just the breast.... ah well... I am so squeamish about raw meat!

OK, can not put off the kids room anymore, so wish me luck!

Hope your son is OK poohbear.

    Afternoon all

Two loads of washing done but I just put it straight on the radiators, I've lost heart trying to dry it outside.

Been to the cemetery then to the cash machine for Christmas present money.

Dog has been taken out and she's finally stopped trying to get her present from behind the tree and gone to sleep, but not before going out to the kitchen and staring pointedly at her advent calendar. I think she likes Christmas!

Weighed the piece of turkey we've got (9 lbs) and worked out cooking times, might do it Christmas Eve to leave the oven free for other stuff on the day.

    That's it for today I think :)

Oh and put the Christmas card line back up after it collapsed. Made the cats jump that did!

Good afternoon, been out all morning and most of the afternoon but was worth it, because DPs Mother was visiting and I had to go and do what he was supposed to do yesterday, what a shame! Meat order collected, I guessed at £90 and it was £70 so happy with that :D Pet foods collected. Visited sister and took neice and nephews presents over.

I've had to leave the meat in a box in the garage ( probably colder than the fridge as it's 1 degree out there, brrrr, cold!) because I haven't sorted the fridge and freezers yet, can't focus at the mo to do it as the ear pain is too much, will hopefully get it done tonight. Aswell as all the packing.

I think the crown should be seperate on the turkey and I need to weigh it, then I need to figure how to cook it :o I have never cooked one before. I'm also thinking of cooking it Christmas eve because of the amount of dashing about we have to do on the day I don't know when I will fit in the time to cook. DP has arranged to go to his Nanas at 9.30am for the morning, tempted to make him go on his own! Didn't think about me having to cook and everything else. What a berk!
One day I might be more organised...........

ALWAYS a shame when you have to miss the dear Mother In Law. :rotfl:

I thought the crown would be separate too, but its not! It's a turkey carcass with the legs chopped off! No idea how to cook it either, ah well.

Almost an hour in the kids room, I'm fed up! and I forgot to take pics, so can't load them up and bask in the glory of before and after pics. Kids are in there now, no doubt undoing all I have done so far. It's so easier to do when they are out! And it's almost time to start dinner! Boohoo!

    Afternoon ladies.

Been up to the lottie and harvested a sack of leeks so if it doesn't involve leeks it ain't being cooked this christmas! Saw the girl I'm handing over up there and she is really excited so that is great. Plan for the new year is to turn a patch of grass in the front garden over to a kitchen garden so feel all inspired.

Also washed out the ladder cupboard and tidied it all back so I know where everything is.

Think I'll make a batch of scones now - kids want take out pizza for tea. OH going out with DS3 on the tag-along bike to deliver cards in a minute.

Poohbear hugs to you and your DS

Turkey going to cook mine Christmas eve my tips:

don't rinse it - is can spread germs on anything it splashes
leave it on the side to get up to room temeperature before cooking
legless birds will be fine and will just take less time to cook - when the juices are clear - tip bird up to see, and a knife in the fattiest part burns your lip it is done (see I watched jamie last night)

Lil_me hope your ear gets better soon. What about putting a drop of warm oil in it?

    Leeks anyone?

lol Stottie Cakes, well this may upset you more but they were on the menu tonight because I order 6 packs (of 2) of giant stotties instead of 2 :rotfl: Can you not get them in Asda down there? I really like the Greggs ones. I am a bit of a devil for them myself, I love what I call doing stottie plates, which is basically plate with giant stottie then topped with whatever is for tea, breakfast type food like sausages, bacon, eggs, beans etc goes the best I think :D they make great pizzas too.

    I MISS STOTTIES!!!!!!!!

ok so here's a question for you all - advice needed! it's my 30th in Jan and bearing in mind i am leaving my job and home here soon after i wanted to invite the kids i work with to a party as they won't be able to come to my bournemouth hen night (i am having two hen nights!). a friend is organising it and has booked a party at the place where you can paint a mug or plate. only problem is the cost - £10 each. she has organised invites etc and wants me to tell her what to do about the cost...this is where i am stuck. do we tell parents it costs £10 each, do we put it on the invite? do i pay - except it could be upto £150 i reckon as quite a few kids... don't really know what to do....is it ok to invite people to a party and then expect them to pay?! help! i know all the parents really well as they are all the church families.
