Oh bother, local post office shuts at 12 and so does the other ones in town, if needs be I'm going to have to go into Durham, argh, things I have to do for his mother!!! Argh! Durham on the Saturday before Xmas is my idea of hell! Best pack the stuff she's given me to sell tonight then incase they sell (no bids on yet and finish soon) as I doubt I will have time tomorrow, see if I can get them to the local post office on time if they do.
Right, need to calm, sitting room looks like a bomb site again, oh well at least it's clean which is more than can be said for her house most of the time, so she'll just have to ignore it, she's coming over to see the kids supposedly not be nosey and go on the internet here (which is what she did last time she came over about 8 months ago)
I think I will let the boys stay up for a bit if they stay this quiet, then I can have a small sleep in (hopefully) before my dash about day tomorrow.
Personalised gifts I ordered came with the postie at 6pm (he's running very late!) so that's all my presents now delivered, well apart from the Nintendo DS which I have now told Studio doesn't matter and to cancel it as I got one elsewhere for my nephew, why not just say they aren't getting any in like the did with the Wii's, grrrr, grump! Anyway apart from the wrapping I'm all doneanyone fancy wrapping for me? Guess not then, I might see if I can find some gift bags somewhere, sure I bought some, ideal for cheating when it comes to wrapping.
One day I might be more organised...........

soappie - tell them it's either beans on toast or you could all go to the pub and make them pay for themselves
Oh I wish I could do that! But I know I'd just end up paying for it all - and driving too so I couldn't even have a glass of Christmas cheer.well done at getting all that done, especially with redecorating too
Thanks Lil, I actually surprised myself over finding the inclination to paint the bathroom and then carrying it through. However, my back/neck is playing up again (so much for the £30 I spent at the Physio yesterday!) so I'm sitting here, indoors, with a winter scarf wrapped round my neck in an attempt to apply heat to help things sort themselves out.
Fallen-angel-shelley, thanks for the wonderful suggestions. However, we have chicken so regularly, it's not 'special' if you know what I mean. And DD has said she doesn't like nut roast. Both DD and DiL have said fish is off the menu too. I've found a recipe in one of my many cookery books for 'mushroom en croute' so will probably do that for the vegies.
I'll do a big bit of topside of beef for the canivores/ex Muslims.
And if the eighth guest turns up, he and me will share a turkey crown
I think I'm just mourning for the ceremonial full roast turkey with all the trimmings that has been the staple Christmas Lunch for more years than I care to remember.
I'm rethinking the starters (was going to be my famous smoked mackerel pate etc.) to make them more vege/culturally acceptable.
I'll just make sure I hide the wrapping from the Christmas Pudding so that NONE of them know there's suet in it!I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Anyway, dinner been and gone I did a super unhealthy dinner of half a huge stottie topped with sausages, eggs, beans, mushrooms and tomatoes
was lovely!
Oooh stotties - I may only be an adopted northerner living in the south - but my tummies rumbling now. Months since I've been to Northumberland and could murder a stottie! (insert smiley for a drooling mouth!!)
May just have to ring the North now for a chat. LOL
MoamAlthough no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.

lol Stottie Cakes, well this may upset you more but they were on the menu tonight because I order 6 packs (of 2) of giant stotties instead of 2 :rotfl: Can you not get them in Asda down there? I really like the Greggs ones. I am a bit of a devil for them myself, I love what I call doing stottie plates, which is basically plate with giant stottie then topped with whatever is for tea, breakfast type food like sausages, bacon, eggs, beans etc goes the best I think
they make great pizzas too.

LOL Lil-me
We may have Greggs now but Northern delights such as stotties or breadbuns don't travel obviously as not sold in the South!!

you're making me homesick for the north now ladies, i still miss Durham, 5.5 years after leaving!!
serena - thanks for the info, will pass on to friend. i found it quite upsetting talking to her. she is slowly recovering and baby is doing great
maralum - lovely to see you, happy christmas.
had a busy but nice day, mainly shopping with one of my youth group girls, i ended up buying her lunch at a lovely independant cafe in our high street. few extra prezzies for OH too.
i came home and after doing my expenses (owed almost £400) and some other work had a cuppa with friend and then had more of a clear out. haven't packed any more boxes but chucked 2 massive crates of my old uni notes from two degrees (felt a bit odd but they've been in the loft since i moved here) which need to go into the recycling bin tomorrow. collapsed on sofa now watching jamie's christmas prog, roast pots he just made making my mouth water...
i'll have a bath in a minute and get into PJs. gonna see if i can find my list for today pages back and see what i've actually done, then wrap a few prezzies after bath as seeing friends tomorrow.
