Sorry guys, just checked and engine capacity is 1364cc, so it's a 1.4 litres engine.

Definitely diesel and cost £4k though. Is there a chance I've been ripped off?
What were prices like when you were looking? A part from needing a car, fuel prices, fuel type and somewhere to park, you did your due diligence first?

    I never think to haggle.

Rang dealer today they're refusing to refund.
    Why would they want to?

There were a couple around the £800-900 Mark but the insurance per month would have been a lot more expensive. The more expensive cars seem to have lower insurance premiums, which is why I went for it. Even the guy who sold me the car said I was doing well to look for a more expensive car.

Plenty going for £2.5k and lower on Autotrader. Ripped off is subjective, trader prices it high on the assumption that prospective buyers will realise it is stickered at a high price, and then haggle. You needed to have done some research before buying.
Really? I see 7 diesels nationally from 2.5k up to 4K.
I'm seeing one at £2,295 and one at an overpriced £3,990. £2495 seems to be the popular price point for 2007 diesel Yaris.

    But 3 nationally isn't plenty.

Replace "plenty" with "some", happy now?

Bottom line OP didn't do any research and so they got suckered by a dealers high sticker price. I bet they could have got at least £750 knocked off without a problem. Otherwise they should have walked away.

    A few!

He did do the research and saw them for £800-900, so !!!!!! knows why he paid four grand. Reminds me of the antique dealer on Harry Enfield, saw you coming.

The £800 ones are probably knackered scrappers.

I went to.view one, it was so bad I think it would have broken down on the way home.

Sometimes the more expensive ones last longer. If I wanted I could keep this car for the next 15 years, rather than paying for some cheap old banger which will have to be replaced every couple of years therefore costing more in the long run.
