Regretting new car purchase
Options
Hi
Today I've bought a new car, however I now really regret it and wondering if there is any way I could get a refund if I wanted to? There is literally nowhere at home for me to park, and the cost of diesel plus other expenses to run the vehicle will be too high. I also work from home, so won't even be using it on a day to day basis and will have to take it for a run round the block every night. I thought it would make my life easier and more fun but I just really wish I hadn't gone out to buy it. £4000 it's cost me and on top of moving into a new flat where the cost.of living is getting higher, I just want my money back.

Depends on the contract of sale. But without a fault covered by the law, you will either have to keep the car or sell it and take the hit of the difference between what you paid for it and what you can get for it.

You'll have to sell it on unfortunately, you can't just return it because of a change of circumstances.
You could try we buy any car to see what they would offer you for it.4.29kWp Solar system, 45/55 South/West split in cloudy rainy Cumbria.0 -

Have you bought it, i.e paid a deposit and plan to collect it.
Online or in person?
Or have you bought it and it's sat in an area no where near your house because there is no parking.
If a dealer what does their returns policy say?
Without their being anything wrong with it I think you will struggle
If you paid £4k and it's worth it then get it on Autotrader/motorway or any of the other named sales sites / car purchasers if your dealer refuses to accept a return.

Buyers remorse isn’t a reason to return it - the things you mentioned haven’t come out of the blue, surely before you handed money over all that should have been considered?8

All of that was known before you bought it and sounds like a diesel wouldn't suit you anyway.2 -
Have you bought a car, as in paid £4k in full and drove the car away?
OR, have you bought a car, as in visited the dealer, paid a £100 deposit and due to pay the balance and collect in a few days?
OR, have you bought a car, as in online / remote phone purchase and due to pay balance and collect in a few days?
Exactly what "bought a car" means will depend on the opportunities to cancel that you have.1 -
.."I bought a car and have nowhere to park it"" ???? .... surely this a joke thread?.....or are we still in holiday mode??
.."It's everybody's fault but mine...."12 -

I don't think the dealer will take it back, it was only a small back street firm. I'll have to try and sell it to another dealer, unless I can find someone to take it off my hands.0

There is normally at least one space to park in my street but as soon as I bought it home this afternoon there was nowhere to park and had to park 2 streets away, thus risking me breaking the terms of my black box insurance by not parking it in the correct street at night. (I don't have the black box yet, it's being installed next week). The engine size is also too big (1.6 litres) and the car itself is too posh (2007 Toyota Yaris).0
