WARNING Amazon Christmas delivery problem
Comments
-
From my 2nd order 1 item has been dispatched and 3 are still 'dispatching soon' - however delivery estimate for all of them is 27 Dec even though I ordered before the free super saver delivery Xmas deadline and until yesterday the order said that they would be delivered in time for Xmas.
To add insult to injury some of the items are now cheaper at Play.com (in their sale) but that's life I guess.
Still not received anything from the the first order although these were dispatched in 3 parcels on 16th and 18th December, the one sent on 16th was delivery estimate 20th Dec (today) one of the 18th Dec ones is delivery estimate of 24 Dec 2007 but the other one is 22 Dec 2007. All of the items from the first order were in stock when ordered on 15th December - 4 days before the deadline for Xmas orders.
2 of the 3 packages from this first order are via Indigostarfish.com"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
best of everything; they just make the best
of everything that comes along their way."

Welllll... it finally came yesterday. I'm not happy though as we were forced to remove two items from the order to ensure it came before Christmas even though at the time those items were still being shown on the site as In Stock and available in time for christmas.
Next year, if it ain't on the John Lewis website, then it won't be a present from me.0 -
Two of my orders are still AWOL and they are fobbing me off.
I am now supposed to contact them on Sunday if they are still missing. They seemed to have forgotten something.0 -
I now have a City Link tracking number...
"Where's My Stuff" now reads:
Items dispatched on 20 Dec 2007:
Delivery estimate: 20 Dec 2007
Apparently Amazon are adopting some kind of Wonkavision™ to deliver same day.
Amazon website says our parcel is in Milton Keynes awaiting delivery, however we live about 150 miles away (up north). following a quick call to the ever helpful City Link they have assured me that they have the parcel locally and it will be here today.
They did comment that every call they get is either Amazon or Carphone Warehouse.
Good luck to anyone waiting for anything to be delivered.0 -
I take it all back (well some of it anyway) my parcel was delivered today. Don't think I'll use them for anything where I need it by a certain date again though!
Edit: does anyone know how they decide how they deliver things- weight, size, value- because it's only things which are sent by TNT mail which take forever.0 -

I think this year they invested millions in a system they call "Tombola" - Everything is given a ticket, matching tickets are placed in a rotating barrel, tickets are picked at random, some people get their products other win a can of soup.
Sry couldn't resist.0 -
Anyone who is still having a problem with Amazon it might be worth keep chasing them (although once items have been dispatched it is pointless as the problem will be with the couriers). I ordered a Playstation 2 on behalf of my mother-in-law on Tuesday and it very soon showed as 'dispatching shortly' but failed to dispatch on both Wednesday and Thursday despite there being plenty in stock. It is £15 cheaper via Amazon than at my local Argos but we decided if it hadn't dispatched by Saturday we would cancel the order (or return it if it turned up) and buy it locally. Anyway, yesterday morning I emailed Amazon explaining what was going on and received the automatic 'reassuring' email in response a few hours later. Then, yesterday evening I received an apologetic email stating that for some reason my item had been 'delayed during the dispatch process' and that they were now looking into it and would dispatch it asap. I then received a dispatch email a little while later saying it was on its way.
My advice to anyone waiting for items that are in stock is to chase it up NOW. If your item has been dispatched then chase the courier concerned because those that kick up a fuss will be more likely to receive their parcel - if you are having trouble with the courier then say that you will be warning Amazon about their bad service and that might concentrate their mind a little as Amazon are a big customer to lose.
Good luck everyone and hope you all receive your parcels on time.0 -
Hi there
A journalist from the Telegraph is writing an article about people buying goods for Christmas online and them not arriving in time.
He'd really like to interview somebody that this has happened too - it would be great if you could have a quick chat for him (it also might also help your case, if it's published in the Telegraph!).
If this sounds like something you'd be up for, please PM me your telephone number and I will pass it on to the journalist.
Thanks and Happy Christmas!

What can I say, I'm now in receipt of one parcel. The guaranteed next day delivery missed by a day but it's arrived.
Well done Amazon and City Link. :T0 -
Still sitting at home waiting. One parcel by courier says "out for delivery" so I daren't leave the house!:rolleyes:0
