I think a lot of the points in this thread are being confused with one another. Those that are to do with the dispatch of parcels from Amazon - ie Amazon taking 7 days to dispatch an 'in stock' item - are well worthy of complaint. But once they are dispatched it really is a postcode lottery as to whether you will receive them on time, but that is not really Amazon's fault if they have dispatched straight away. I live in the rural North and (probably because of the lower population) we have a great postal service and local couriers, so things are generally delivered quite quickly. Down south and in more urban areas where the population is higher and service more pressured I understand that there is much more difficulty in getting things delivered on time - or having to go to collection centres which are sometimes miles away.0

Last year I had to cancel severel items as they suddenly changed on the 23rd of December to dispatch 2nd of Jan grrrrrrrrrrrr
My daughters scooter which they assured me would come for xmas turned up on the 27th.
I have still ordered this year and am waiting on a large portion of the order but for my kids main presents I paid a bit more and used John Lewis who I always find are brilliant!

Very unhappy with Amazon.
Placed an order (with super saver delivery) on the 13th Dec (item showed In Stock). Checked with Amazon size on 19th Dec the item still hadn't been dispatched. We go away 22nd Dec and need to take order with us as its a gift. Spoke to Amazon as was advised that it probably wont get to us before Monday 24th. They advised me to order it again on Guaranteed next day delivery (£8.99) and they would credit me £5.25 towards the delivery cost. I should then simply accept the first to arrive and return the second.
Well, this morning I check the email, I have an email saying "We were not able to dispatch your order as promised" and that I "will be credited with the amount that you have already been charged for shipping for this order". Again I speak to Amazon. an agent first tells me that it's been sent and will be here today, thank you goodbye... I stop them before they can hang up.. After some grilling they accept that it hasn't been dispatched after all. long story short... they "promise" me that it will be here before 1pm tomorrow.. I'm not holding my breath.
Funny thing is they are still offering to guarantee next day delivery of this in stock item on their website. I have been misled and lied to by Amazon. Like all consumers I have the right to choose where I spend my hard earned cash, in future I'll look further than Amazon.
Very disappointed.
ps they've had £100's of us this year

I recieved the same email as Loobysaver yesterday at 21:59 according to the email.
Only catch is, the quoted order number is one that Amazon cancelled and placed again on 2 seperate occasions with completely new order numbers. So in thery the order number quoted doesn't actually exist.
I've also finally received email to say and order has been dispatched and had been scanned as leavng the depot in Milton Keyenes with CityLink!!!

Has your order been changed to express delivery? This is what they have told me and I actually have a tracking number for it now.they "promise" me that it will be here before 1pm tomorrow.. I'm not holding my breath.
Has anyone waiting on stuff actually received anything yet?0 -
Ordered over £200 of stuff from them on the 13th. December, making sure all items were in stock, and chose the 3-5 day delivery. Today I realised that many have not arrived. Checked the web site and found out that quite a few items will not be here till after Christmas. Phoned them up, and was told how sorry they were, but it just isn't enough. The constantly send emails saying they can deliver by the Christmas if you order before the 18th, which is clearly untrue.
Not happy.
Edit: It was bugging me that I hadnt been given any reason for the delay, or been told if it was one item that was holding it all up, so I phoned them up on the 0800 number to see if I could cancel the item holding it up. Spoke to someone, who said all items are in stock, so I asked what the delay is. He said hed get it shipped 1st. Class today. God only knows whats going on, but there was no real problem with my order, as all items are in stock. It really doesnt make any sense. Anyway, many thanks Nicerella for the number."I'm not even supposed to be here today."0 -
I agree that they haven't been up to their usual high standard lately...we always use the supersaver option and usually things arrive within a couple of days.
I placed three orders for Christmas (all with supersaver deliver):
First on 8th December - this was dispatched on the 10th, Delivery estimate: 17 Dec 2007, received it on the 12th from RM.
Another on the 8th - dispatched 11th Delivery estimate: 17 Dec 2007, and received 17th from RM.
Third order placed on the 11th - not dispatched until 17th Delivery estimate: 22 Dec 2007, but arrived yesterday via TNT.
Was getting a bit concerned towards the end...the last one is hubby's big prezzie!0 -
Well I've received 2 orders and have 7 outstanding. 4 say dispatched by various methods, supersaver, royalmail, courier etc. The other 3 are still ready to dispatch with an estimated delivery date of 24 Dec 2007.
There is only 1 present I really need which is the Polly Wheels for DD, the rest are for the in-laws (I'm saying nowt!!!:D ) and just bargains I picked up for birthday parties etc0 -
i have to say play.com are brilliant for delivering speedily
:ABeing Thrifty Gifty again this year:A

I have two issues with parcels from Amazon at the moment. One was late despatched (4 days) and has now been with "direct injection" Presumably TNT for 5 days.
the other is a HDN delivery that according to tracking has been awaiting collection from Amazon for 4 days.....0
