That is what they emailed me earlier.

I tried their call back and it's a bit hit and miss. Their line was terrible this morning to the point every other word I said was pardon! At one point I got an automated service speaking french to me!

The 0800 number there seemed hit and miss too so I dial the international one - 0208...and got through on that. I also had a problem when it said press 8 for all other equiries and to be connected to an assistant. On pressing 8 or 4 depending on which number i'd rung I got an engaged tone.

Good luck, let us know how you get on.

Thanks to Phirefly for warning about this. I have just had the exact same thing happen, my large Christmas order of 19 items was being held back because 3 of the items were out of stock. Of course they were all showing 'in stock' when I ordered and they're still showing 'in stock' on the Amazon site. The lying liars! If the CS assistant can see whats going on why aren't the customers allowed to? Their systems are rubbish. angry-smiley-030.gif

On my account details it was still stating the order was going to arrive in time for Christmas, so no way would I have known if I hadn't phoned in.
So I exploded at the CS guy and told him to cancel the whole lot. Some items I have re-ordered from play.com as they send each item out individually, bless their little hearts (fingers crossed for this) and some I picked up in town today.

Never had a problem in previous years so whats gone wrong? I wonder how many peoples' Christmas will be ruined by them this time.

Maybe we should all write to WatchDog or something.
• Me too.

The stuff I ordered (Very early: 1am) on 18th (all of which were and still are all in stock) now shows in my order history as these items will arrive after Dec 25th (none of them have been dispatched yet).

Up until now the order clearly said that they would arrive by Xmas and their last order day for in stock items on super saver delivery was 18th Dec.

I think amazon have messed up this year.

My previous order (dispatched 16th Dec) has not arrived yet but hopefully will appear soon?

Looks like their disclaimer gets them off the hook though:

Amazon will work closely with our partners to ensure delivery as much as possible before December 25. However, some delays may occur which are outside our control."

Every other company I placed orders with this Xmas has dispatched my orders already.....

• Re: their disclaimer

Surely if the items are still at Amazon and not yet dispatched, then it is within their control. When the items have been dispatched and launched into the god forsaken postal system then it's out of their control.

Again, good luck to all.
• I've had a problem with Amazon this year too. I ordered one item (a DVD), it was dispatched the day after ordering by "First Class" (the order was not big enough for free Super Saver delivery) and it arrived a whole 9 days later.
• Yeah, I'm a little peeved at the minute with amazon. Placed an order on 10 Dec, and went on yesterday to check on it. It had only been dispatched on the 17th, yet the item stated it was in stock when I ordered.
A delay of a week on posting an instock item seems a little unfair, especially at this time of year. I'm going home tomorrow, so won't be here for the parcel. I'm not sure what'll happen to it, hoping the PO will hold onto it till I get back!

• I have also had a major problem with Amazon this year, I thought I was alone in my bad treatment by them, but from reading these posts, it seems like Amazon have really badly let a lot of customers down this year, which is a shame as I have always sang their praise usually. I also found their automated answers to complaints a real insult after the mess they created with my order. I will be writing to watchdog and I hope others will too, they need to know what they are getting wrong.
• I feel for you all, it makes you so stressed when you are waiting for things to arrive. I was worried at the beginning of this week that some of my presents weren't going to arrive. The only problems i have had were from mail order express who were useless and ELC last year. ELC were fantastic this year and i swore i would never order from mail order ever again. I order an Vtech system for my son from amazon and it took 7 days on supersaver, it turned up at 7.00pm  so haven't had any problems. Good luck to those still waiting.
• Well I've just received this email from Amazon:
Season’s greetings from Amazon.co.uk.
We wanted to reassure you that your order xxxxxxxx is currently being processed. We know that holidays can be stressful and wanted to relieve a portion of that stress by reassuring you that your package should leave our Fulfilment Centre soon. Despite the slight delay, we expect your order to arrive in time for Christmas.
On dispatch, you will receive an e-mail message confirming the date, contents and method of delivery.
Our fulfillment centers and carriers are working hard to ensure that packages are delivered as quickly as possible during the Christmas period. Orders such as yours, with estimated delivery dates of December 24 or earlier, are receiving top priority in each of our fulfillment centers.
When possible, our system will upgrade many shipments to a faster shipping method to ensure they are delivered by December 24. These upgrades are complimentary during the holiday season and you will not be charged for any additional shipping costs.
Thank you for shopping at Amazon.co.uk. We hope you enjoy your order.
Warmest regards,
Customer Service Department
