WARNING Amazon Christmas delivery problem

  • I've found that if they say it will be delivered via a "Super Saver Delivery carrier" it will eventually be delivered by royal mail after at least a week whereas if it says it will be delivered by royal mail it's usually delivered the next day.

Something I've ordered was despatched on Saturday via a Super Saver Delivery carrier, I need one of the items by Christmas but I'm not optimistic about it- the estimated delivery date is the 22nd and I've yet to have something from the "Super Saver Delivery carrier" turn up on or before the estimated delivery date.

It's a shame really because I've always had such great service from amazon in the past.
  • I use Amazon Prime - it's a wonderful thing :)

I use Amazon Prime as well but here in Germany it only cost Euros 29 (about £21) as opposed to £49 in England. (A first class stamp here is about32p) so postage is about the same. For £21 it is a good service.

Oh no :( Also got an order recently dispatched due on the 22nd with a super saver delivery. Wouldn't mind so much but I ordered it on behalf of a friend who has no pc access and it is a present for her dad. I know she will know that's it not my fault if it doesn't arrive in time but I will still feel guilty as I was the one who told her about Amazon.

ZGoing to keep my fingers crossed though, have never had a problem with Amazon before so hop they don't let me down now.

My order placed on Saturday says dispatch estimate 18th Dec and delivery estimate 21 - 24th Dec so I am keeping my fingers crossed but if it isn't dispatched my the end of tomorrow I will just cancel and buy the CD and book in the shops.

Have had sucessful deliveries from M&S, Boots, Office (shoes), Play.com, HMV and Warehouse this week. One delivery still outstanding with GameStation but they tell me its on its way
Not been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/155
  • Flicked on this as was interested....
Gotta say that have never had problems with Amazon, as long as you know what boxes to tick re delivery etc. Also their customer relations get back to you promptly.

If you think you have problems - see my desperate plea re meatandcheese - stuff that was ordered weeks back, money taken weeks back - not for Christmas - but for sons birthday on Friday! Trust him to be born so close to Christmas, not fun either way. At least Amazon don't take you money til items despatched!

    Good luck!

I recognise the pain of all of this. I had a similar experience with Pickabook.co.uk. Ordered a dozen books one evening, all "in stock". They charged card imediately. Next day 1 wasnt actually in stock. "Will refund you soon." Everything else "Ready to Ship". Ok then. 3 days later, refund made for the one book. I had a look at the order tracking and 3 more books were now not in stock whilst everything else still "Ready To Ship". Too risky - I cancelled it all (they refunded all money a couple days later) and went to Amazon. All items arrived a week later as expected (beginning of Dec).
Thats the 2nd and last time I've had delivery issues with PickaBook. I dont think any retailer should charge for goods until the point of shipping.

I think Amazon 2nd class deliveries were quicker before they ditched Royal Mail. And RM would leave them at the local post office if we were out.

I hope your orders arrive shortly.

  • I placed an order with Amazon on the 13th. Estimated dispatch was 17th. They still hadn't dispatched on the 18th.

I've been chasing them on the phone for 2 days and via email. Have dealt with 5 or 6 different people who all have no clue what the other has done and I've had to explain the problems so many times it's ridiculous.

They upgraded me to 1st class delivery from super saver at no cost which was fine. Until I received a second order confirmation for 2 of the same items (I only want 1!) meaning double the cost and extra cost for delivery. The amazon account was still listing 1 item.

Eventually got through on the phone to someone else, explained it again. Asked for a supervisor or manager so that I could make them aware of how difficult it is to resolve something with them.

On hold for 5 mins to have the guy come back and say "my team leader is very busy, he says it's a busy time of year and he's unable to speak with you!" But I have this team leaders name so can at least make contact at a later date. They have however given me another delivery upgrade to express delivery so the re made the order today and it should be with me tomorrow. It's still not been dispatched though *bangs head on wall*

We'll just have to wait to see when it gets here and how much money they're going to take for it. The right amount I hope other wise I'll be in bank charge territory.

It's odd as I've never had a problem with amazon until last month. Very disappointing.

Yeah thats my point too. Perhaps we all need to write and complain....
  • We could but, even if you address something FAO one particular person, it seems that any Tom, !!!!!! or Harry will deal with it. You'd end up with 6 emails from 6 different people, each one saying something different to the other.

The "it's Christmas and a busy time of year" doesn't wash. They've had a lot of notice. Christmas hasn't changed date recently and they've had all year to recruit in order to avoid this mess.

Order still not dispatched..tick tock tick tock!

I put an order in yesturday with amazon.co.uk, and delivery was special delivery guarantee by 1pm today....normal postie knocks on the door at 12.50pm with one of the items and as of yet 4.20pm the other one hasnt turned up. I rang Royal Mail to find out about it and they told me they have no reference of it even being picked up!!! I have an email saying both items had been dispatch yesturday etc etc...now for the frustrating bit - ive just tried to ring amazon on that hideous system they have, on the contact me page...you put in your phone number and they ring you back!! not a problem except for its all automated and then at the end it says 'sorry cant understand you please ring back on..' and the voice speaks so fast all i heard was 0800 lol........im so  cause i have no way except email - and im not holding my breath for a reply this side of christmas -....any advice would be great or if anyone knows of the 0800 number for them that would be great lol.....
