E.On Next Online v18 - should I fix like MSE suggests?

Account now shows an empty current tariff. This morning it was showing v18 with the original rates.1

TBH it's a bit of a bu;;gers muddle at the moment, with probably 27 million households having their energy bills faffed around all on the same day. Its all very well the government proclaiming that they are giving money away, but they aren't the ones who have to administer it all - thats down to the energy companies
Even with the best will in the world I doubt that any energy company can cope with that, especially when they've got to try and work out what the meter reading should be, especially for those who can't, wont or dont' give them a meter reading.
Add in a load of hassle from customers phoning, texting and tweeting to try and find out what's going on or trying to revise their tariffs then it's really a recipe for chaos. Not forgetting the normal business of just sorting out bills for those who are moving, transferring or who just don't have a clue. You've only got to look at the raft of stuff on the forums to see how confused it all is.
Personally, I've sent in a reading and I'm hoping that it will all get sorted out in due course but I am keeping an eye on my account and making sure that I've got meter readings, just in case it goes awryNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
The v18 tariff details have now been updated in my app and are as follows:
Electric
Unit: 35.37p/kWh (vs EPG 34p/kWh)
S/C: 43.39p (vs EPG 46.36p/day)
Gas
Unit: 10.46p/kWh (vs EPG 10.3p/kWh)
S/C: 27.22p (vs EPG 28.49p/day)
So the unit rates are slightly higher than the EPG and the standing charges are slightly lower. It appears that they have keep the (lower) standing charges from the original v18 tariff and reduced the unit rates (perhaps not quite down to the EPG rates to mean that "average" use is £2500 per month?)
I'd be interested to know if others are seeing these v18 rates now. In my case (20000kWh gas and 7500kWh electric per year) I'm about £10 per month worse off than the EPG.
Is there any reason I should stay on the v18 fix rather than move to the EPG rate?2 -
Another data point (Sainsbury's Energy v19 fixed tariff equivalent to the v18, location West Midlands):ChippyAft said:The v18 tariff details have now been updated in my app and are as follows:

Electric: 34.78p/kWh, SC 48.13p/d
Gas: 10.33p/kwH, SC 27.22p/d
About right, £7pm worse off than the EPG at your consumption figures. Wondering the same, but while I used to have the option to switch to the SVT before 1st October the tariff choice is now gone. I assume I could phone them up but tbh I'd be more interested to know if any other suppliers come cheaper now that EPG updates are coming through.
